I use mirrors as in the side mirrors pointed down. If I ever got a drive on lift in the garage- I would get a camera. I can either hook it up to a tv in the garage or view on my phone/tablet/laptop

These wireless backup camera systems have gotten so cheap I'd look at using one:

You could attach the camera where ever was most useful - like right at the end of the runway looking down the runway at the wheel, or on one of the posts or even on a nearby wall.

Or you could save even more and get a wired one and just temporarily attach the camera to the bumper looking down at the runway and string the wire in thru the car window.

Not a mirror....but an idea I had was to use one of those laser things for stopping at the right spot in the garage. My different idea was to use one to shine on the center of the hood from above. Never managed to implement one...

I can back my 05 GTO on pretty easy with my mirrors pointed down, but I have trouble backing my Chevelle on.....mirrors aren't as good and the doors are so much taller you can't see out the windows.
Thanks for all of the reply's!

I have an old wall mirror leaning on the wall in front of the lift so I can see myself drive onto the lift.

Yep, a couple of old mirrored closet doors. Works great.

BTW I always back on my lift.....

Yes...I use a mirror.

Are you saying you actually use your lift in reverse to the manufacturers intention? Or are you saying your lift is installed in such a way that allows you back into it?

I guess its possible with a 2 or 4 poster but.....:dunno:

Got the same problem with my '70 Chevelle. Between the low seats and bulges in the doors, you can't even see the runway below. Its like a pregnant lady trying to see her feet. :)

Photo eye / laser detection for entry doors would be easy. Set up a beam between the rails so the tire breaks the beam and alerts you when you're on the spot. They are pretty cheap these days.

Getting centered on the ramps is the biggest problem.
Thanks for the ideas!

I have never done it myself, but.....
I hang around a lot of streatch limo shops.
They just adjust the onboard mirrors and back up.
It may be a case of a lot of pratice?

Why cant you just lean out the window and make sure you're aligned? Thats why I do. Or once you're past the first posts, you can open your door to make sure you're good.

Get some help the first few times, and then you'll be golden.
