Thanks for the heads up! Went to my local Sears to try and get a 3 lb Nupla. They had one but it was still marked regular price. I figured I would give it a shot and took it to the register, sure enough it scanned for $9.47. As nine4gmc already stated IGNORE the shelf prices!

Sears hardware standalone store in North Olmsted Ohio had the vices in stock but at regular price. They didn't have any T handled nut drivers. The deadblow was regular price. Great Northern mall store had the SAE nut drivers at regular price, but no vices in stock. Was able to get the $9.47 deadblow here tho. Why aren't the prices the same across all Sears?

I was able to pick up a belt sander on clearance for $20.

well, now i gotta stop in at the various stores around here.
i'm taking bets......... that i'll find nothing on sale.
last tool clear out, i found out that the sales kids were buying everything and putting up on ebay

nope.
stopped in at 3 sears. nothing special on special.
1 store is closing. they jacked up the prices, and then put a 20% off on them.
50 simolians for a 3/8 socket set.
79 for the crowsfeet set, either sae OR metric, not both

Just bought the "Full Polish Fine Tooth Roundhead Ratchet" 3/8 and 1/2, hopefully they are the ones made in USA.

Common practice with "going out of business" sales.

You often are not dealing with the actual retailer anymore, but rather a company that comes in and buys the inventory of the store at a discount, then marks it up to MSRP or more, then puts it on "sale" to make people feel like they're getting a deal. Only by the time most of the desirable stuff is cleared out can do they discount anything enough to get the prices down below what a normal sale price would be.

I have a suspicion based on all of these items going on clearance that Sears is getting ready to seriously downsize their tool department. At the couple of stores I've been to lately, most have way too much floor space for what they're carrying.

I bought a 3lb deadblow hammer at the Capitola CA Sears today.

It still had the $35 price on the wall, but the price check scanner showed $9.47.

They had a half dozen left.

The 2lb hammers are still at the $25 list price.

I went to two sears here in Ohio. No deal. Must be a west coast thing. Hopefully coming east soon. I would buy the nut drivers at 9.99 in a minute.

The sears in river town mall in Grand Rapids mi. Had the quick grip and general purpose on sale. I bought the quick grip for 20$ waiting for the angle vise to go on sale. It was the third sears I went to to find any on sale.

They already started to at my local sears, but their prices are still too high

Funny, the one by me has only random sizes discounted. The ones they have are US-made, fully polished. Many are also the ones with the locking end so you and swivel the rachet into different positions.
