MityVac hose modification?

Just received my new MityVac 7201 fluid extractor today and would really like to straighten out the supplied tubing or replace with something a bit more pliable. The tubing that comes with it is so ridged that if you try to straighten it out at all it will literally pull the unit over.

I'm working on getting rid of some of the coil by using some heat and gentle persuasion without kinking it but wonder if I wouldn't be better off just getting some new tubing that's more flexible. Anyone know of a reason why this would be a bad idea? Mainly plan on using it for oil changes.

I just let the tubing go where it wanted to go ... no problems with the unit tipping over. The 7201 works pretty good; used it to pull the oil out of my dad's E350 last month. It was the first time I ever did a complete oil change without crawling under the car.

Have you figured out how to keep the fitting on the top from leaking? I love the fluid extractor, I hate the mess it makes with that fitting.

The input/output fitting has a plastic collar that you pull towards the fitting then push in the hose and release. That should seal the hose and keep it from leaking. I did not have any leaks, but then again mine is brand new.

I've tried every way to keep that thing from leaking. I've thought about trying a different kind of hose on the fitting.

You may have a different type of hose as there is no way mine would straighten out as much as yours is in that photo. Did yours start out that straight or does the hot oil help?
