Looking for a mobile base for a parts washer.

It measures about 25" deep, 34" wide at the bottom (gets larger toward the sink). Data sheet says around 550lbs when full of solvent if I'm looking up the correct info.

Would be something moved rarely. It's just heavy enough and doesn't have good hand holds so hard to move. Even tricky sliding onto a forklift. Also can't exactly tip it on a dolly to move unless emptying the solvent.

There's a few bases claiming 400lbs. Are these "400lbs" or strong enough for my use?

Or other suggestions are welcome. Ideally Amazon as shipping at other places is often pricey.

Trying to keep the setup fairly low as well. I know these will raiseit a bit in the non mobile position. The wash basin is already a good height so more than an inch, maybe 2, would start getting too tall.

This is the one I'm looking at...

Put channels under it and get a pallet jack?

Looks like the same one you are looking at is available in 700#:

Tall enough for a pallet jack would raise it a fair bit. 3" I'd guess.
I have one, but it's not kept in the shop.

Have a forklift too, but trying to not have to use it. Like let's say I need to move it a couple feet to pull the back panel off (where all the workings are).

Forklift means firing it up, bringing it inside, probably moving stuff, etc.

That one from Velvor is about $140 with shipping

That 700lb base is a turd.

I went to move the parts washer yesterday and that turned into a headache.

The whole thing is very poorly built.
The lift levers were so poorly built they barely have any lift. Coupled with swivel casters that just flex and bind up it's not moving much!

I modified the levers to get more lift, but the casters are junk.

I'd say it's more like 250lbs rated, if that.

Make your own mobile base. I have converted all of my machines to mobile base. I have one lift and travel lever that fits every unit.
There are others. The mobile base varies to fit the machine,

I built mine for a Mill that weighs about the same. I used the leveling casters so that it stays putt once I move it where I need.

I have half a dozen semi live skid bases similar to what ISB cornbinder has. They are much more efficient use of wheels and I prefer them to my band saw and unisaw grizzly bearcrawl bases for maneuvering around the shop.

I need 30 minutes to build a base. You misspelled diarrhea
It'd take me longer than that to dig through the scrap steel. Never mind dragging out tools. Plus timing it between work on hopefully on a day that isn't raining, blowing 50+ mph.

Plus already have a list pages long, some projects going in 10+ years now 🤣

So yeah, a $60 base made more sense than spending a day or three and probably $150 of materials to build.

I expected a 700lbs rated unit to handle 500lbs without any issue. I'd love to see how they figured the capacity. Realistically, it's good to maybe 250.

Just a stick of 2" angle ran me $120 recently. Would need about 10ft for this just for a frame vs spending a few hours wire wheeling and grinding old stuff.

I always laugh when someone bullshits about "took me 15 mins"... uh huh.

I only have 1 thing that needs to stay low and on wheels.

I've had good luck with the Bora mobile bases for some of my machines. This one looks to be about the right size and certainly has enough capacity but they make various models so you could check out their whole range to find something that fits. I have also found that the factory cross members that come with them can be easily exchanged for a custom length of Unistrut if you need something slightly wider.

I measured it yesterday and now forgot. I think it's 23x35". At work now so won't be home till the end of September.
The Velvor one someone linked looks to be a clone for around $100, may try that one.

Was thinking about welding together the "700lb" one and cutting and rewelding a crooked caster mount, which would help, but the casters are ****.

These claim to be 2200lb rated, but I'm having doubts. Going to a larger wheel would require redesign of the mount.

Just get a Harbor Freight moving dolly.
Will raise it 4-5" which would make hard to use. It's almost too tall as is. I think it doesn't help to not have a toe kick so can't stand up to it like a kitchen sink.

The sink bottom is around 34", but the sides make it around 42"

The new models have a toe kick.

Also it's just to move it around occasionally without tearing up the floor, bending it or needing 2 people.
To replace fuses or do any service, the back panel comes off.

I used a dolly to initially move it, but it was empty, so about 225lbs lighter.

Here's the new version.
More safety bullcrap, but the toe kick would be awesome.
I might try lifting mine 4" to give it a toe kick and see how that feels.
I can't just cut out the front as the solvent tank is there.

New version has LED status and a programmable recycling feature which would be handy.20240828_111357.jpg

I have several of these, no complaints in about 20 years;

most of mine I used 1-1/2" square tube instead of 2x2 wood - one has a large "dead" freezer (sealed cabinet storage), others are 3 router tables, woodwork drll press, PM66 saw, etc - check specs, rated for 600 lbs ... Steve (downside is they're on back order  )
I have a Workbench mounted on a virtually identical base from Harbor Freight.

The "1500lb" one is ok, but not great. Wheel mounts welded crooked, terrible paint job (was rusted even!) And is not flat, had to jam a 3/4" shim in one corner so my parts washer quit rocking.

I did get it for $65ish on sale though, so can't expect too much. Seemed to roll around ok, so least it does that.

mate this is a brilliant idea ! Do you have a photo of the enclosed wheels in the pic titled mobile base solution ?
I don't have a picture of the wheels, but I can post a few pictures of the frame that hold the cast iron wheels. The cast iron wheels for the heavy Camel-back drill press are enclosed. They are 3 inches (7.62cm) with a 13mm axle shaft.
I will post what I have. I hope this helps you.
This camel back drillpress is 2 meters tall and weighs about 500kg.
