Thanks Dan. To add to the frustration no one bothers to let me know anything. Try and get hold of kids that carry phones with them everywhere and stare into them constantly and no one answers or returns calls???????????? Just like trying to find an obsolete part.

After my updates automatically ran I can no longer use my camera to put pictures on the journal???? Got the pictures into the computer and viewed once. Never found it again. I have looked into H file with the camera connected opened all the files and pictures do not show? They are still in the camera. #%$&*

My daughter is getting her feeding tube put back in today. She was told that reversing or repairing her operation is not an option at this time. She is despondent to say the least. Please keep praying those of you who are it is appreciated. This is just a note to keep all posted.

Thanks Bob and Andy and others. Most of us know we must be connected to a higher power simply because we made it through the stupidity of youth. I pray she does also as her stubbornness envies mine when I was in my twenties. Unfortunately she is in her forties so course corrections have greater restrictions governing them.
On another note attached are pictures of a patch I put on an old mower deck which had rotted out on the curve where grass acids find a home. The patch is 3/32 inch and is set back from 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the edge. The space in between is where the metal had rusted away. I needed to fill the empty spot with weld and fuse both the base metal on the deck and the patch itself. In so doing, in order to keep the continuity of the curve, I had to wash the weld along the fillet without blowing through and without depositing too much metal saving grinding time. If you look at the left side of the wrapped area I left the weld unground to show it. The rest was contour ground without any weld pick up needed. No bragging. This is to show what can be done with paper thin metal using a MIG welder if the parameters are set right. No grinding of paint or rust was done what so ever prior to welding. To have done so would have made it much easier but this is not SUBSAFE. The shadow area just below the plate lip is gray heat line along the weld toe where it meets the patch plate. No undercut exists there either. It just looks that way.

Great job on the deck repair. Welding thin metal isn't easy even for someone that does it a lot.

Sorry for some reason I have had to set a new password several times in the last few days?? If I disappear that's why. I got the deck in shape and mounted on the tractor. Going to mow today to loosen everything up if it doesn't rain. Sarah has her feeding tube back in and I suspect they will try to redo or repair the last operation. Some doctors say it can't be done others say it must. I have no definitive answer nor does she at this point. Thanks for your support. Bobby

Glad to hear that your daughter has some progress. My mother in law had something similar and many times it felt like it was a half step forward and three back. She was able to view each step as her "reality for today".
A few weeks ago you mentioned migraines associated with LED lights. I went to a former coworker's house yesterday to replace the GFI in her bathroom. When she called me she said she was having cataract surgery so we picked our date. I asked her about the cataracts and she said last spring her office swapped out their lighting and she started getting headaches. When it got so bad she was wearing her sunglasses in the office she started the doctor circuit and ended up at the eye doctor who told her that the LED's were so much brighter that the cataracts bothered her more because she was reading and working on her computer in it. She probably would not have had a problem for several more years but because the light was brighter it caused her problems earlier.

When I was reading about LED's per Bobby's admonition it was apparent that different people have different susceptibilities to flashing lights, especially in the 1/2 to 30 hertz range, but also higher. It will be interesting to see whether I'm one of those. My optometrist keeps telling me brighter is better.

Reply to all. Appreciate the support for my daughter and the input on the LED. As in anything we learn and like to do an open mind about the body that allows us to have the privilege is tantamount to building or maintaining the utmost in quality in keeping it going.

Well one of my save a tires for the Bolens went flat and I discovered a hole that was too big to plug and decided to go for a tube. This requires getting to the tire shop in town when they open or before or waiting all day for them to get to it. I was second in line! The new tube was installed and the charge was $36. Then the kid that fixed the tire decided he needed to SEAT the tire. He blew a hole the size of my fist through the bottom thread (as opposed to the side wall) tube and all. The original hole was the size of my pinky and no dry rot apparent! Needless to say I was not happy when asked to pay for the tube.

Started a new project last night. I am replacing the threshold for my front door with marble. I have decided to use cultured marble from the tile center as it is less expensive. I plan to use two or three pieces and grout the seams with thin set.

I am trying but the camera is not something I even think about, especially when the heat index is over 100F. I just trudge along trying to stay out of the house where the rocking chair awaits those who are ready for the winged chariot. By the time I get into something I think is worthy of reporting it is half done.

As it is wet here too I could not unload this new resident. I will get more pictures as soon as it is set up. I got it from a friend who is no longer able to use it. For those who can't see it well enough it is a very nice anvil and stand. I would guess as I have not looked it over around 175-200 lbs. It also has a hardy hole cut off tool with it.

The is the set up I have added to my automotive shop. The anvil is mounted on a table that I got with it. The top of the table is made from 1/2 inch plate and the anvil is locked in with 1/2 inch square stock heated and form fitted then welded so the anvil cannot move. The anvil itself is not welded to the table. The weight of the anvil is 156 lbs. This is a signature anvil in excellent shape. It will be used to shape sheet metal mostly and fine detail work. My other anvil that is in the blacksmith shop will serve general duty.

Thanks Andy. It is almost the same as the one in the smithy but weighs 9 lbs more. I believe the horn is longer and thinner. This one is in nicer shape. It weighs 156 lbs by itself. Both belonged to very close friends and the earlier one is the first one I ever owned. I got it in my early twenties. I feel blessed to have them as they represent the knowledge that was passed along from these two craftsmen before these tools ever left their shops.

Got ten years of pine straw off of the pole shed roof yesterday. It took having to repair some water damage to a few rafters to do it. Also got another 1/4 cord of wood cut split and stacked. The front threshold is almost finished. I did not take pictures of the old wooden one as I figure everyone knows what rotting wood looks like. As soon as the weather clears I will have some of the finished product.

Finally got to tear down my industrial cast B &S engine. Cleaned up the flywheel and magneto pulled the flywheel and checked and adjusted the points and condenser. Ran rich for a while but now is cleared up and will cut through anything at full speed. This mower was made to cut graveyards and will cut as close as a trimmer to fences etc. It may need a carb. cleaning if it loads up on the next run but I believe the rings and valves just needed to find their home again.

Marble threshold picture without caulking being done. This has been a problem area since day one. This vintage brick stairway had no protection from the rain coming off of the roof. Gutters do not work as the big oak fills them twice a year. I built a cricket gable to shed the water and it works great, but the landing on the top step was pitched toward the door and over the years the threshold had rotted away. Cutting a custom piece of marble would have cost too much so I used three pieces of cultured marble from Lowes tile section and grouted between the seams. Marble was glued down with liquid nails first. The smaller piece in the front overhung the sub structure by 3/8 inch so I used mortar to support it while at the same time sloping it toward the level area of the landing and eliminated the dip/basin that collected what little rain now hits the landing. Don't tell the carpenter ant activist people.

Sarah goes into the hospital today in hopes that her esophagus can be stretched. She has only a 1/4 inch opening for food to pass. The only other option is to redo the operation which is a long shot and very dangerous as I understand it. This is what we are facing at this point. Please keep up the prayers. Bobby

I do not know how to do a multi quote so this goes out to all including those who have not posted who are praying for my daughter. She is home after the procedure yesterday and will now have to wait several weeks/months to see if it will work and allow her to eat again. She will stay on the feeding tube until further notice. The dangerous part of the procedure is in the doing as there is a high possibility of puncturing the esophagus. This did not occur. Thank God! The doctors also gave her a steroid injection to help deter more scar tissue developing. After talking to a surgeon friend I am encouraged as to the success rate of this procedure which in small cases must be repeated periodically. A heavy burden has been lightened just knowing you all are out there. Sarah sends her love. So do I !!! Bobby

What can I say? Batten down the hatches today. I have post traumatic stress as this is a much bigger repeat of last year. I just finished the house new roof 130 mph. Storm currently at 180 mph on direct heading. This *****!

Bobby: I have been thinking about you since you offered your guest cottage to Bob the other day. While I was driving home from FL the other day I had a call from my cousin to see if I could go to Pawley's Island with him to batten down his MIL's place. I was about 6 hours out and he was getting ready to leave then. My prayers are with all who are in the path because this one is the real deal.

Thanks Kenny. I have all the storm shutters on and have filled sand bags for the first time in my life. Hopefully the last. We leave in the morning with extra gas and a chain saw to clear roads for the return. I am trying to look on the bright side. The town supplied the sand so I plan to make a fire pit when I get back. Hope I don' t have to use it to cook over while everything else is being rebuilt.
