BB: have you put the cement in that form you posted a picture of yet? i'm a bit concerned that you have a lot of bricks in the edge that might show after you take the forms off. also it looks like it won't be very thick on the edges and the cement might crack.

if you haven't poured it yet I might remove all the bricks on the edges and use a few more bags of concrete. OR maybe add some height to your pad with another 2x4 on top of your form or change it out to a 2x6 or 2x8.

your call and just thought I'd mention it.

best of luck and hope you get an inversion table cause I know just loading those 80 pound bags of cement and moving them around are tough on an old body.

Thanks drives. Bricks on the bottom will not show as backfilled dirt will cover them. They are also around the edges and just pieces on the bottom to keep the mix in. Only the center pad will have any weight on it a 125 gallon propane tank but where it sits is all concrete as is most of the pad. No freeze here either. It's more likely to settle in a lot of rain as it is all clay. One of the reasons I poured the pads in sections was so if any settling occurs it would be along a seam and prevent cracking. Thanks for the concern drives but just trying to keep water from finding a low spot along the foundation and give my gas tank something to stabilize it.

I have no idea how you manage with all the humidity you must have with the hot weather and rain you get, but i'm guessing you like it or you wouldn't live there.

it's pretty smokey around here the last few days cause British Columbia (CANADA) is on fire and so is the eastern part of Washington so our sunny and 85 degree weather looks like winter outside.

Thanks drives! Its not that I like it all that much; I just hate to sit without doing something; especially when it will not go away!
I am going to slope the grade on the door side toward the other side of the cottage. I already have French drains there and the grade naturally goes in that direction. There is also a large oak tree close enough to the back of the house to **** up the water.

That #71 is in outstanding condition. Best part is that it is all complete. The fence AND screw are the first to go missing. Then the mouth closing shoe. Nice score.

Now that I know, I'll keep my eye out for one at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Might even tell my neighbor to keep me in mind -- he owns a consignment shop and checks out all the garage sales for treasures.

Before I started thinking about putting a bench stop in the woodcrafter's bench I am building in my head I had no idea either. Somewhere in my research on the built in stops it was mentioned. You know the rest!

The tricky part is the top piece that rides in the slots on the bottom of the plane. The reason it has wonky sides is that one side is for following flat surfaces and the other is for following curves. Hard part is the screw but those in the know just grab one of the blade holder screws from an old #78. Since the bullnose frog is rarely used in those planes, the missing screw is not a problem.

Make those in bronze and plane users will drive to OK just to see one.

BB: I like all the hand tools you are coming up with, but like Andy i'm looking forward to a few videos of that mill cutting up some logs. I'm patient though so i can wait til next spring or whenever the weather is better for you to go out and work on the mill again.

I'm back! I will post pictures as soon as I find the cord for my camera to upload? Got the vises and some other goodies; two end tables, a better compass, an old oily rag can, some upholstery fabric and an oak roll around chair to match the roll top desk that I was going to use for a base for my custom woodworkers bench. I have another desk and other ideas so I'll just have to modify the plan. Ginny's car was loaded to the max weight wise. Add some clothes and smaller items; plus a nice set of U.S.A. made horse shoes for $2 and we rode home wondering if the axels would hold out.

No I didn't trade Ginny for another tool! I did pick up a few but mostly discussed selling things I no longer use or need. I am still trying to catch up and this hurricane is complicating things so please be patient. I have to drive 120 miles round trip to get a belt for my tractor and some lamp oil today; plus empty the car. Running around is getting older than me.

You need to get off that driving for parts. Order online and get it in two days, three tops. I usually order from eBay and the box comes with Amazon Prime stickers all over it. Vendors are hustling so hard they are shipping low priority stuff with the high priority. I imagine it's too tough to keep stuff separate. It's getting where I don't want to spend the fuel to drive to Tulsa to save a day or two when the urgency has passed by the time I get home. You know how that is, I'm sure.

Jim now they're talking about a fifty fifty chance of a stall and turn west that would leave us with three days of tropical force winds in the beginning and rain until the end. Then the storm would be moving on the exact path we would evacuate on. We will probably stay and pray that the rain and remaining water does not reach floor level which would be 16 feet above sea level. I have had a work order in for the ditches to be cleaned and cleared for over a month and no luck. They have not been cleared in the 25 years that I have been living here! Could be a good thing I guess as the ocean water can not back up through them either?
