Long as I am limited and still have power I thought I would go through some older pictures. These are my first two calves raised to have some of their own. And you thought there were no cattlemen on the East Coast?
Has only been about ten years since this picture was taken. Look at the difference in the farm's background. Fast growing pine. I love it! More wood for the mill.

BB: great to hear you still have power and hope that it stays on all time. that storm (Florence) looks like a B*&^H so hunker down and I hope none of those fast growing pines falls and/or hits anything important.

GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!

so you said you HAD COWS and now you miss them so do tell when you stopped having them and why?

Cost of hay got too high to make it profitable or even a worthwhile hobby.

Hows the water levels holding out for you Bobby

Sending more prayers your way

Thanks to all. Still within storm gusts and rain but most is past and no collected water that I can see from the only doorway not shuttered. Considering what was expected, it seems as though my area of S.C. was spared. Must be a lot of folks in good favor with the Master Carpenter here on GJ.

Here are some pictures of what I did yesterday in preparation for the flood waters. No ditch access safely with my tractor. Cutting was heavy and so was I from eating junk the last few weeks and spending a lot of time sitting.

Should have seen the sheriff slow down when he went by patrolling the neighborhood. Actually were a few neighbors amused by the old man playing grim reaper. Little did they know I was just trying to stay ahead of him.

BB--Those are some SERIOUS shutters.

The system was 7k fifteen years ago when I installed it. That was the installed price. I did the job myself for $1,300. It takes me one hour to cover 23 windows. I store them on a pallet, pick them up with the little forklift, and drive them around the house. One of the better investments I have made!

Buy good belts. Do you have a Cub? I can't remember.

Andy it is an International Cub Low Boy. Basically, a cub with the final drives turned. It's a great tractor but a pain to work on. I pulled the tank off and the alternator yesterday and installed a flex drive belt. It took a three foot cheater bar to break the adjustment nut. I don't know what the idiot that had it before me was thinking? Working great now. I used just a wrench 13/16 with a couple of good jerks up after I gave it what I had; no cheater. Hope I don't turn out to be the idiot??

I remember now. IH did not make belt changing easy on any of their tractors of that era. And the Cubs, especially, with the integral fuel tank and flat head are not easy. However they run so long between needing anything that cures it for me.

Good job getting it done without breaking a casting.:lol_hitti

Thanks. Hear that on the casting. Bracket to hold the air filter anchored to the head and block; what engineer designed that? I agree that they are a great running tractor though; and cut a nice lawn; better than most lawn mowers. I need to find another deck though so I can have one to use while I rebuilt mine.

BB: I didn't think hurricanes or high winds hit your part of the world often, but if it's only once I guess that's one too many times. great looking window protection and sorry I can't tell if it's galvanized steel (which might be a bit too heavy for you to lift in place or if it's aluminum that has just lost it's shine. do tell? great looking system that is for certain.

your great grandson looks pretty strong too!!

The evil spirits have snuck into my stable once again. After cutting the grass one time with everything working right; after pulling the tractor half apart to get a belt on. the water pump works so well the radiator is showing her age. New core price 250 plus another day of labor? I don't think so! Tabled it to have time to research new zero turn and take my hot rod truck out for a spin on Model A day and the head gasket blows (I think?) Made is as far as a friend's house so I can't get to it until tomorrow. This is so much fun. No wonder Andy is sticking to melting things down. It has to be very rewarding!:lol_hitti

Grandson looks good on a B Allis. At least he can reach the brakes on that one! But be a real grandfather and get him a red one. :lol_hitti

Buy yourself a new zero turn and in five years you'll be shopping for a new one. Put $250 in a radiator core (they are a pain to change) and in five years you'll still be relying on it.

Andy I know that's fact but time is what we can't get more of. I have things, like everyone else, that I have to do and things that I want to do. Balance is the key. If I can get the weather to cooperate and push the job until early spring I will probably fix the cub.
Spent yesterday getting the A pickup hotrod in shape to get it home; on two cylinders. Yes head gasket is blown between the other two. Plan is to work on the Mustang convertible today; it needs a new sending unit (gas) and I have to change the oil in the trans. to hopefully fix some leaks.

Life has a way of getting in the way!

Jim thanks!

So far the leaks are at bay but not without the usual tail chase. The gas gage came with a seal that was nothing like the one I took off. It looked like I could make it work so after draining twelve gallons of gas through a 5/16 hole I put the new one in. It held until I got to the top of the seal and guess the rest? Ended up putting the old seal, which looked like a home made, back in. The tank is full gage works and so far no leak. I would guess the tank is a replacement larger capacity tank. I did get my armpits flushed twice with fresh non alcohol gas though. Ginny says I already smell better and is thinking of taking up smoking?:headscrat

This can I picked up on my trip. Nice can with legs for oily rags; good and heavy. I have done some cleaning and moving around things getting ready for prioritizing jobs to be done now that it is going to get cooler. We are 10 degrees above normal so when that will be is a good guess.

Finally could get at the tire rack to get some more "A" tires up there. Moved and drove around all the antiques and washed them. The John Deere got washed for the first time. Looks good. Got to make some bottle racks today to prepare for the sawmill power plant.

Finally got the sawmill power plant in the garage. I will start on it sometime in Oct. When will depend on the weather and how much outside work and Repair work I get done. I am currently out of OX and Argon so I am making some racks to transport my cylinders. I need to do some burning on the power plant.
