It pisses me off that age makes a difference, but that didn't change it.

Here is my plan for how I will set up my window sills using brick for the ledge. I am up to course #6 with three sides done. Tomorrow it's off to get shots for the dog and maybe start building window framing for the two windows. My books have been shipped. I will post a picture of one when they arrive. Bobby

I see the carpenters pencil used for the angle. Smart idea. Of course I know very little about masonry. My Granpop was a brick mason though. I love seeing it and how it's done.

Good eye! You can do anything if you are willing to fail. The only difference between a craftsman and an apprentice is the craftsman has already failed many times and knows how to compensate for his mistakes. He has also developed an analytical mind from making so many and compensating so much as to see ways out of a pickle. It's all about truth. Screw ups that hurt teach. The teacher is always you!

The truck from the publisher came yesterday after several hours of pouring rain. I had to grab some boards left over from the porch to bridge the mole tunnels which are now sink holes in order to carry 8 fifty pound boxes of books to the house before the sky opened up.

I am still working on the brick shed and will have some pictures, hopefully, today. The window ledge is done now I have to figure out how to finish off the rest of it.

Picked up a nice early Stanley 93 rabbit plane. I thought it would come in handy for jobs in tight areas.

I guess I have also been over working. I am an aircraft nut though so my mind wanders. Put a bunny together with a biplane and all sorts of conflicting images collide inside my head.

Pictures are deceiving. The angle on the window sill is 10 degrees or so. I had to figure out how to do brick and post and beam window as brick wall is usually double thick and veneer brick goes hand in hand with old lathe and plaster walls. I made the window casings out of cypress and show the inside behind the window in case someone is interested. I now have a second window which is antique stain glass that I had to build a casing for. I will post pictures when both sills are in and I have 12 courses all around. This will be half the building. The "W" is now also complete. I may change the fireplace to facing the shed attached by a short wall as it may need to be out of similar but different brick.

Thanks Andy. I have not put a protractor on the double hung window but I do believe you are right my guess would be near twice that. As I had no luck splitting the bricks length wise in order to set them back I believe I picked up the extra pitch on that one when I slid the bricks forward. The wood sill on the stained glass window has the same pitch but the brick sill is closer to it as I split the set back bricks and locked the sill bricks in a frame when I set them in the mortar. The larger window is long and narrow so I am good with the extra angle as this is the side that gets the driving rain off the intercoastal. Check out the "W" in orange in the next pictures. Above it will be a "T" for Tidal Winds Plantation.

New pictures. Note window sill and small angle braces on three corners. Also horizontal bracing on the letter side. I still want to do the same on the side opposite the larger window. These 4X4's will make handy shelves inside.

Coming along nicely. It looks so square and plumb.
Does the floor have a drain, this is the first time I've seen the pvc pipe in the bottom left corner of the photo? Or is that for something else?



How do you plan to finish out the interior?
