Hey Bobby, I don't post much but wanted to say your little brick shop looks Great! Nice fix on the outbuilding as well.. That wind generator looks great I'd love a setup like that on my property in the UP.. I still check your thread daily.. Take care,
Redwolf

Thanks Redwolf. The generators are hard to come by PM me I am thinking of letting it go to raise some cash. I bet it would churn out the power up on the lakes. I am downsizing in hope of getting my own vacation property.

My parents have a place in Spain where they go for the winter, as Finland is too cold and especially dark in the winter. On the other hand, the summer in Spain is too hot, so they come here for summer time, and we get to see each other. This was a little tougher to manage this year with the situation in Europe... And this also means they have multiple places to upkeep.

So from what I have seen, I think downsizing is a good precaution and idea. And with everything that's going on, the nearer you are, the better chances you have to see your kids more often. Good luck and I hope you manage to get that vacation property sooner than later!

Thanks Matias. It has been a challenge. The laws in that part of the country have gotten ridiculous and that drives the cost up for us do it yourselfers who now have to pay for this permit and that special service contractor. Where will they get all the taxes when we all live in cardboard boxes under highway overpasses?

Finally got to dig out this 9000 lb two post lift. Trying to decide weather to restore it or let it go. Problem is, I can't find anyone to cut my concrete floor and put in six inch pads. Ceiling also needs to be higher and I am not motivated to do the work myself. But, it is taking up space and a decision needs to be made?

Bobby, as wonderful as a two-post lift would be, that's going to be a lot of time and money you could invest elsewhere. Maybe a Max Jack would meet your needs and not require a higher ceiling (probably still need the stronger pads). Selling the one you have could help fund the new lift.

Heh, exactly :) I happen to listen to podcast from a person living in LA, and he continuously rants about the permits and inspections (glass requirements, trees fenced in your own property, replacing light switches etc.). It seems in some areas of the country it's just getting really hard _and_ expensive to have anything done up to code.

I must admin I agree, restoring is ok, but if you have to pour money to do that _and_ elevate the ceiling (and have someone do it for you), maybe just move it along, and get something that you could use as well, with less investment in time and money. Max Jack or scissor lift? One you can eventually easily take with you or sell on if needed in the future. I suppose the lifting issue isn't that urgent, if the lift has stayed in it's current place for already some time?

Finally broke for lunch when I finished laying block in the old section of the shed which was full of stuff when I did the new section earlier this spring. Look what was waiting for me. Thought you all would find him more interesting than another block wall.

After reading your post on my thread I thought I'd better look you up to see what's happinen

Well i was a few pgs back so I read through. That 9000lb lift looks just like the one I have standing out behind my big building.
it's cooling off some here so my days are a bit longer out in the shop.
Downsizing is something in the back of my mind but I still can't keep from buying more stuff and stacking it in my containers hoping to get to it some day

Praying mantis? One good thing about the winter we are getting here is that there are no insects around. And luckily we don't have big ones like that.

All. Please pray for my daughter Sarah. She has bad Asthma and other health problems all of which could compound her current trials. She has now tested positive for Covid and been fighting to breathe for the last few days. Pray also for her daughter, my first granddaughter and the mother of our great granddaughter. She has is positive also but young, fit, and an Army medic who has been conducting test screening for the disease. The baby so far is negative but has been exposed so she is quarantined with her mother.

Bobby, I have spoken to my invisible friend so she knows about Sarah, her daughter and your great granddaughter.

I'm sure glad you have spiritual contacts Bob. And no doubt powerful. As we both need all the help we can get, and so far have limped along, I'm betting our invisible friends know each other; and have had more than one conversation about who is responsible for bringing us into visibility; and with audio capabilities no less. Your efforts, as always, warm my heart. Bobby

Great news!

I'm looking for pictures of your shop soon...

OK so the gas man is coming today to hook up the 60 year old stove we have been working on. I am still working in the kitchen on the remodel and have made some cabinets to accommodate the 400 pound beast. The shed has the Unisaw set up and I have been using it for the remodel. Only have one picture for now as when I quit at the end of the day I can't get up out of the chair. This pic is of the cookie pan (these things are huge and heavy) I made for storage.
OK so I loaded the pics into my computer and it's telling me they are in but they are not there. Tried three times. I will have to figure out how come. Probably has to do with my old camera and all the new updates. Sorry

Managed to make this cheese serving tray while in between the kitchen cabinet remodel and the shed restoration. Christmas shopping is another matter as is eating without a kitchen or restaurants to fill in the gap. It is a piece of the Persimmon tree I sawed a few years ago. Also know as American Ebony.

Nice serving tray, and good that you still get to do some great work between the other tasks! Hadn't thought about that, but yes, must be more elaborate to be without a kitchen, and not being able to go to eat out. Hope the remod goes swiftly!

Merry Christmas Bobby!
