think its way past time to update my progress....if anyone is still interested. I had to stop progress shortly after my last post...picked it up again in July, and have been getting a few days in here and there.....by the way Lyme disease kicks your ***...so be vigilant about protection if you work in tick environments. updated pics to follow

Wow!!!!Very sorry to hear about the Lyme Disease. Hopefully all is well now.
As far as the barn goes, GREAT JOB!!! Looking forward to more pics of it. I wish I had enough trees around to do something like that. Once you're done, it will be a special place. To think it was trees from around the neighborhood, dropped and sliced, and now it's your barn. That has to give one a fantastic feeling right there.

I knew ahead of time that with what i do it was only a matter of time....i am located in the hot zone for lyme carrying ticks in the continental US ...we use spray almost everyday, the problem was just that "almost every day" .....if u hunt, fish, hike, or just work in the woods........use a deterrent....every day!!!!

seth this is awesome! i love the milled wood and how it's aging. just looks great. very impressive! how'd that loft landing pass inspection? that looks WAY dangerous!

The landing isn't completed yet haha...I have to tie it into my collar ties and add a railing...hard to believe but the way its mounted now it doesn't move at all, its through bolted through the steel I Beam and also 3/8 by 6" angle iron on the 4 corners...but I agree it looks dangerous.
The lift...still working on the exact placement but it will depend greatly on what type I finally decide on...if its a fixed lift it will definitely go in back open bay, i have the room even with the stairs and platform but it again will be tight....should have built the whole thing 10' longer
but that wasn't in the budget.mwbailey

Seth, Glad to see the garage close (!!) to finished. Very impressive build. I, too, like the (very, in my case) modified P&B approach. Also like what you have done with left-over lumber for your benches.

Loved the early on picture with the snow on the structure; is it time for another snow pic? You should feel very proud of the work you have done on a really great looking build! With exterior lights on at night and a fresh snowfall, your garage/property must look like a Currier & Ives picture postcard. I'm definitely on board for progress pics both inside and out.

Very nice job. Are you planning on insulating and heat, or leave as is? Kind of a shame to cover that up. I did a modified post & beam on my house and really like the way it looks. Mike
Omp....honestly the feelings are mixed
....I like what I have accomplished.....I do wish I did a few things differently
....and its still not completed
.....and more than likely I will be leaving it behind, we are probably going to relocate in 2-3 yrs .....but I told myself when I started, if we move, I'll just build another one!

I really like the roll out work table - one of those wish I had done it that way things.
I insulated mine but still left the framing exposed for the looks.
It was a lot of work but well worth it. I thought I would only turn on the heat when working but found it wasn't that bad to keep it 55-60 all the time.
I will be checking in on this build, w/o the trespassing part.

928: Awesome build! Looks great, just great! Really love the look of all the exposed beams and walls. Shame to cover it up just for HEAT!
