Modifying A Dewalt Power Cleaner..... (maybe)...????

I'm working on modifying my DCPW550 Power Cleaner. Out of the box it works fine for my particular situation. I didn't like the location of the inlet filter and have read that some folks have had it break. I removed the inlet filter and installed the SS hose (3/4"GHT). It threaded on easily, no problem. On the opposite end of the SS hose I wanted to install the filter and here's the mystery. It won't thread on correctly. I installed a quick disconnect fitting (3/4" GHT) and it threaded on correctly. I don't understand how this can be? I know that 3/4" NPT & 3/4" GHT are not interchangeable.

I could just keep it as pictured, eliminating this filter. I'll be using distilled water from a dedicated container so contamination should not be an issue. Ideally I would like to keep the filter.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

After hours of searching, the inlet is 3/4" IPT. Ordered the correct adapter fittings and will confirm tomorrow if they actually work.

IPT is the same pitch as NPT except it is not tapered like the NPT is
ipt relies on a washer or other means of sealing as the threads do not seal like with NPT

Picked up some fittings at Lowes. I do have some on order so that I can reduce the amount of fittings by the inlet filter. So far so good....
