well, keeping my fingers crossed.

Definately want to find some tall screw style jack stands to take out the fore and aft rocking though. I know I'd feel better.

Nice!

Looks great! I see you chose to lay right over a control joint in the floor?

AVC, yes, I had no choice, had to split the difference. It's not a true all the way thru control joint though, so I'm pretty confidant. Do you get much fore/aft rocking with any of the vehicles you've lifted so far?

Krash, thanks for the compliment, more people DONT know what it is than do. It's actually a true J-code Cobra

I'm having no luck finding a screw type assembly that I can use to weld up some under lift supports.

That's why they call it a "control" joint and not an expansion joint. What you have is basically just a saw cut in the slab part way. That way, when it cracks, it cracks or stops there.

I've only had 2 vehicles up on my lift:

1. Volkswagen GTi. This thing was like a go cart. I'm pretty sure I heard the 9k System 1A laughing when I pulled it between the posts. It was rock solid stable.

2. Chevrolet 2500HD CCSB Diesel. It took me a fair bit of fiddling to get the truck/arm placement to where it lifted smoothly and evenly. When the truck is on there, you can definitely get some oscillation going if you lift up or push down on the back of the truck.

How about you? I tried finding information about your lift, but I can't find squat. What did you wind up paying for it? Have you spoken to Mohawk about it at all?

What year torino and truck both of mine are '69s. Now I really need a lift.

Look at the home improvement stores for jack posts they are used in my area to support beams in basements. you will have to weld on a bigger baseplate though as the bottoms are usually set in concrete in a house.

it's an older unit from the mid eighties, they had a system one (heavier lifting capacity 7,000 lbs i think) and the little brother system two.

I paid $800.00

I got the tall jacks from Greg Smith.

Congrats on the lift. You'll be amased how you did w/o for so many years. You'll never want to work on your back. You'll be lifting the cars up just to wax the sides.

70 Torino, 67 F-100 with a 98 mark viii driveline, 2005 crown vic squad car front clip. I was at home depot today, no luck. Going to try Tractor supply

Thanks for the compliments, but when my garage grows up it wants to be a real shop like Billy's. Nice set up sir, and very clean. Whats under the car cover if I may be so bold?

Looks great!!!

As you pointed out in another thread, Your back will be thanking you!

Now you need to get the other toys that go with a lift.

Tall jack stands
Roll around oil drain
Trans jack
Work cart to put your tools on when under a car.(I use HF 4 drawer cart)

Slap some magnetic bowls on the columns, I put them on the arms to hold lug nuts when doing wheels.

Believe me, they all come in handy.

I've noticed I need those things also. It's starting to seem like the lift was the "cheap" part!

Do you have a build thread on the truck on Ford truck enthusiast forum? I seem to remember seeing something like that over there but I don't spend a lot of time over there.

My 69 is a frankentruck or a mutt as I call it. Almost nothing original, I bought it in '06. It had a 75 gallon semi truck fuel tank mounted in the bed, and plumbed into the fuel system. The frame and running gear is the heavy duty 3/4 ton with the larger brakes, the body (or at least the front fenders and drivers door) are half ton. The vin number is on the drivers door on these old trucks. It has intermittent wipers (not available till '78 I think), a 460, (not available until '75 I think) aftermarket air conditioning made to match the contours of the dashboard. A very uncomfortable aftermarket seat, and the source of my most recent headaches the tilt/telescoping steering column out of a 66 Cadillac.
