Monte: thanks for more pics of that cool looking old machine. does it still do the job it was built for as well or maybe better than anything else?
It still works, at the TUV inspection (at least) the lights passed the check... :)
any pics of your town, vacations, or just the people in your life having some fun?
I´ll see if i find something interesting
I wish I would have kept my old Leinen 150m vise cause it was one of my favorites, but a friend still has it and he's still happy and he keeps saying it's not coming back. how do you like yours?
I like them very much because of the smooth action and of course because of the design :) The jaws also always will line up because of the construction of these things. They´re also massive so i hope they´ll never break...
I think the HEUER vice has a under bench mount and it can be positioned in all sorts of positions so wondering if you've seen it or maybe you own one?
At work we have one like that, i personally don´t have a workbench where i could use it, but the version with height adjustment is pretty nice so you always can work in the right height. Most manufacturers offer these things...

Some very nice new tools indeed ! I also like USA made tools - but , having said that , you have in Germany some quite awesome German made tools too. Australia stopped making anything worth wanting quite some time ago :(
I dunno if they still make these in Australia, my set was, and it´s pretty good:

Monte: maybe one of those European vices and it's rotating arm will find its way into my garage so i can give it a test ride. thanks for letting me know most of the vice makers make that or maybe one company makes them for all the vice makers. in any case it looks handy.

i'm not sure i've ever seen carpet in the back of an El Camino but if they make it for it and you now own it i'm happy to have a looksee to see how it looks and if you like it.

have a great weekend!!

You’ll have to let me know what you think of that Sanp-on pliers set. I actually have been buying Knipex, but more tools is always good tools!

Monte: I swear you must have a truck dropping off new stuff from the USA at your shop daily. good stuff for certain.

I usually buy a 3 pack of those leather gloves at Costco, but they wear out quick if you get them at all wet. I'd probably put oil or some preservative on them and NEVER use them when it's raining or touching wet items, but I get them pretty cheap so it's hard to change my ways or have it quit raining in Seattle. that said i have been paying attention a bit more and trying not to grab anything wet when i have the leather gloves on and they are lasting quite a bit longer now.

have a great day!!

 I wish it would be like that....
But the reality is that i started buying these tools already several month ago....Now i have time to post them....

Mostly i use leather gloves when cutting roses or working with a chain saw...If it´s wet i usually wear nitrile gloves. I agree leather and water don´t match. I might try shoe wax or neatsfoot oil on them.

Thanks ! You too

I wonder if that Crown Victoria is from a local police department near me, the town next to mine is Woodbury Police and that used to be the color scheme they used.

Ya it's common for our government vehicles to eventually be auctioned off once they go past a certain life expectancy.

Auction exporters send things everywhere. Funny to think that would be exported to Germany though.
Interesting to see where things end up 1000´s of miles away...
I think i should start to save some $$$....

Are there still any Crown Vics or Chevy Caprice (up to 1996) in service ? Or are they already gone because of their age ?

Most likely gone, you may be able to find a few auction sites from the southern states that still have some in service later, but it'd be a lot of hunting and of course the shipping and processing to get to Germany is a whole other fun thing. Every once and a while I see them pop up on the auction sites.

Sometimes you don´t have to look in the distance to find something.... Sometimes the good things are close.... Plenty of Crown Vic Police cars 4 sale in Germany...:

I bought most parts in the US from the El Camino Store, Summit and Jegs, but i also bought several parts from german US parts dealers. Universal parts like the insulation or new fabric for the headliner is also from here. Wear parts are not a problem to get over here (brakes, WW-tires, belts etc.). Car specific parts will be more of a problem (glass, fenders etc.).
Thanks ! :)
Weekends are always fun because i can work on car stuff ;) :)
It seems you also have a lot of fun in your brides garage ;)

MONTE: one of these days I might be organized and sooner than later i'll have my bride's side of our 2 car garage so she can pull her car in.

do you celebrate THANKSGIVING or maybe OCTOBERFEST is your holiday for that?

keep up the good work cause that EL Camino will be road worthy (Autobon?) soon.

Cheers (as I tip my cold mug of ice tea towards you)

Winter is coming so i hope your garage is warm so you can continue !
We don´t know Thanksgiving over here. Our "harvest festival" might be close. But there is no fixed date and no holidays. The original Oktoberfest is celebrated in Munich/Bavaria for about 3 weeks. But there are no official holidays :(.We do have official celebrations/holidays but they vary depending in which part of the country you live in. Some are valid for the whole country (new year, easter, german unity day, labor day, ascension day, whit monday, christmas) and some only in certain parts for example in catholic regions.
I´ll try my best. :) But i think there are better cars for the Autobahn since the Elco only has a 3 speed auto trans :)
Cheers !

One still sees Crown Vics in public service with smaller and/or less well-funded police departments once in a while. They're still out there. The old big-**** Caprices are looong gone.

Understandable since the Crown Vic was built until 2011 and the Caprice until 1996. Sad that these last real american cars are not built anymore :) :(

Goop hand cleaner.
Back in the days we had a piece/stone of pumice as a hand cleaner. Dunno if they still sell them. In liquid form it´s not available over here. Seems to be an american speciality.
