A few months ago, I had the gas lift cylinders that support the lid on my KR series top chest replaced under warranty. It turned out that the replacements were also not capable of supporting the lid, so after contacting Snap on customer service, the person determined that there was a HD version of that strut, and sent me again, at no cost, the correct struts.

While on the phone, I mentioned that the model number of my air compressor was illegible, as it was written on the original shipping papers. Even though the compressor was manufactured in 1999, by using the serial number, determined that it is a BRA618V

Yes, indeed, there IS a difference, and once again, although quality does cost extra, YOU do get what you pay for.

Glad you're happy. Honestly I've had great customer service from all of the good US tool companies I have ever bothered to contact.

You paid enough for that chest that they can send you new struts every year for the rest of your life and still come out on top

That's why you pay a premium. If you like premium products and premium service and are willing to pay, they're a great company.

I bought some wrench racks today off the truck. Unbelievable how nice they work, I've looked for something like this for years, just found they had them. Lets me put three times the wrenches in the same space. At 32.40 for the small and large wrench racks, it's the cheapest toolbox space I've bought in years. I'm going to get another 2 or 3 sets next time I'm on the truck. I'm not a fan boy, I have more tools of other manufacturers than Snap-on. But, for some things, they're just great. For some things, first class is barely enough.

People gripe about the cost of Snap-on tools but once you buy them, they don't go anywhere; they're yours to keep.

I actually would tend to disagree with that, the perceived value of the brand makes them significantly more likely to grow legs than other tools.

I had a small handful of broken tools (no longer work a job where a truck shows up) and called them up. I was taken care of like I was family. Well, actually better than family. I'm now buying Snap On's for my sons major essential tools he needs for auto tech class.
What's a shame is no one in class wants to buy Snap On because the dealer they have is a real "****" according to my son. Comes in insulting all the students and making fun of them over their physical appearance. I'm waiting to hear about him getting decked.

I had a problem with struts on a top box of a KRA4114. It was a used box that I bought off craigslist. When I called SO they said they couldn't help because I wasn't the original owner. I have expected this answer but shows you that the customer service somewhat stops when the original owner sells.

I am still a big SO fan. They are generally the standard that others get measured too but keep in mind that warranties don't always transfer.

I found the stuts from a place online so the price wasn't too bad.

If he cant handle the insults in class, he won't make it out in the field.
