Ok, I know some of you despise NTXTools.com...They've yet to do me wrong...let's leave that debate out.

Right now they have BOGO for GW Flares, Metric and SAE for $40.

Consensus on GJ is they are fairly good wrenches...you guys still of this opinion?

On Amazon these 2 separate sets are about $156.

What do you guys think?

To my understanding, the flare nut wrenches were out of stock months ago.

They have them listed on the site, but will not honor the deal because they are no longer available in the promotional BOGO packaging.

I'm wondering how you "leave that debate out"... when you're not going to get what you buy. :lol_hitti

Think about it, nothing is ever free. Costs have to be adjust or absorbed. You are basically getting two $20 set of wrenches. If Amazon charges $150, then you know they are marked way up.

After reading the original post I was in need of a couple of flare wrenches and thought I would see if this was for real. I ordered the BOGO set from NXT on Monday (04/01/13). They were on my porch today (04/03/13). The wrenches are as advertised. They look acceptable, certainly not SO/MAC quality but probably fine for my occasional use. Still would probably be nervous ordering a large quantity of tools from them after doing some more research here on GJ.

The GW BOGO offers are almost always marked up compared to the single set however its pretty miniscule compared to buying both sets individually. I've pondered over their Gearbox wrenches for awhile, individually they would run around 250 for the two sets (mm and std), when they do the BOGO offer on them its closer to 180. Even if its not a true "get one free" its still a substantial savings.

Here's another source. I really don't remember anyone raving over these wrenches though. It's possible I missed it.:dunno:

I picked up both sets last year on ebay and I'm very happy with them so far.

It surprises me to see the lack of interest in these wrenches in this thread so far. I did quite a bit of research on GJ before buying mine, and read quite a number of rave comments. I've never used the SO's to compare for myself, but many stated they were close to SO quality for far less $. :headscrat

I dont think its the Tools themselves, It comes down to the Shenanigans the Company tried to pull here.

I ordered these from National Tool Warehouse, which is not the same as Network Tool Warehouse (NTXTools). Ordered them Tuesday evening, FedEx says they should be here today. Total cost was about $53 shipped. I'll take some pictures side-by-side with my SK flare nut wrenches and post them.

I just wanted to bump this port and see if anyone has any reviews of these wrenches after using them for a bit?

ijroorda - how do these compare to your SK set?

I haven't really had a chance to put them to the test yet, but my first impression is positive. They are very heavy with beefier heads than the SK's, a lot like the Snap-on flare nut wrenches I've handled. Overall they feel like quality tools. I've attached a couple of side-by-side pictures with an SK wrench - hopefully I'll actually have a chance to use them here shortly.

I think a lot of the problems with NTX stem from a lack of proper communication and transparency as to how their ordering/shipping process works. It is not an Amazon experience, but they resolved all my issues and left me with confidence that they ARE out to operate legitimately.

Since the problems, they shipped a bunch of loose GearWrench parts I ordered, two GearWrench torque wrench promos, and I just bought the last set of flare wrench promos in stock... no issues whatsoever.

I got mine yesterday... online they suggested I place the order via phone as it was the last one left, to ensure I got it.

12 nice GW flare wrenches for $39 (or $49 with shipping) you can't go wrong. I have the USA Craftsman RP set I bought from a member here, and an add-on Snap-on in the 5/16x1/4 size not offered in Craftsman RP (it was cheaper new on eBay than the Craftsman full polish replacement).

The GW head in the same size wrench is substantially beefier than the Snap-on, and beefier than the Craftsmans in the other sizes. This may present an issue in tight quarters, time will tell... probably never for me as I'm not a mechanic.

This is quite the deal. They are now out of stock from that distributor (who also is probably the stock for the networktool site referenced, as well as Citrus Tools) but if they come back in, pick up a set!

I have used a couple of these now, replacing a power steering hose on my car and removing transmission cooler lines on my Explorer. They fit very snug; in fact, in one case it took me several tries to determine that I had the right size wrench, since it did not want to slip on over the thin coating of rust on the fitting. The meaty heads weren't a problem in this particular situation. So far so good!

National Tool Warehouse doesn't list them out of stock, although it doesn't specifically say they are in stock either.

Fitment seems good on the one wrench I tried, as I said these are a fantastic deal

I believe NTX, Network and Citrus all ship the GW promos from the same warehouses (Medco). So if one is out, they are all out unless they are individually purchasing inventory to stock. NTX never lists the stuff as "out of stock"... Citrus only changed theirs to out of stock when I called to place an order.

I ordered a set on 4/09, been on the phone numerous times.. Always the same story.. Call in get transferred to Greg and he tells me they are showing in Stl and will ship the next day. I called again and talked to Greg yesterday and got the same story, "in Stl shipping tomorrow" I informed him that Ive been getting the same story for damn near 2 mos. After review he says that they oversold on the bogo and are waiting for the metric's to show up, expected back in stock in 10 business days.. We will see...

This is NTX?

I thought the GW promos were all specifically packaged items, which is why they wouldn't sell them separately. Perhaps now KD has lowered the prices on the individual sets so they can be sold as promos or something.

Either way, I ordered mine last week and received it yesterday. :(

Oh that's BS.. Lol.. Yes ordered directly from the link at the beginning of this thread, only thing I have received was emails from Jane on a daily basis notifying me of other deals.

Honestly, I think the inventory between them and Medco is not real time, and they have to "check" on occasion. I asked them to be notified when the flare wrenches were in and never heard back, but then called and there was the one in stock when I saw this thread.

So, as frustrating as it is, I think it's a limitation of the setup they have with the drop shipper. None of those companies have real-time or even close to real-time inventory on their websites.

While I would say their customer service leaves something to be desired, I got what I bought (it just took a month).

I just ordered one on Sunday, and it arrived on my door Thursday. Simple/easy transaction for me. COO is China, but so was the 5pc craftsman metric set that was the same price. That one is going back to the store. 12pc metric/sae vs 5pc metric for the same price is a no-brainer for me.

Do the Gearwrenches look to be of better quality than the Craftsman, obviously you cannot do a metalurgical analysis with your eyes, but how does the chrome compare? How about fit and finish?

I find most of the Gearwrench stuff I have to be better than the Craftsman, especially the late USA stuff.

I bought the BOGO deal from Tooltopia a couple months back. The wrenches are excellent! Although they are made in China, Gearwrench is doing something right, because the quality is all there. Excellent chrome as always, and very strong wrenches.

I'll need to take a closer look side by side with the craftsman. I just got a quick glance as I was headed out the door this morning. I'll try to post back tonight on this.

Well, I just placed an order, so I'll let you guys know when I get them.

Well, small update, I got an email at 1:30 saying they were shipping out from Ohio. The email was a bit vague, but I assume they are in a box on their way now. I live in Indiana so I should have them next week sometime.

Alright, looking at the craftsman and the GearWrench side by side, I can't tell the difference other than the stamping. Finish appears identical, and I'm fairly sure they came from the same casting mold. I don't think the pics will show it well, but if you stack them next to each other, they seem to be dimensionally identical.

The middle pic is the gear wrench on top of the craftsman. The bottom pic looks like they are a bit different, but that's just the cell phone camera making it look that way.
