mike only charges actual shipping. call or email him. he uses a lot of flatrate boxes too lol.

i dont think that was actual shipping. I only had sockets and extensions in my box. All of which were for the 1/4" drives. A total of maybe 20 sockets and 5-6 extensions. If i have to pay 70 bucks shipping might as well go snap off.:headscrat

So you still have to find the item number and then go match it up to the price?

I dont want to be negative towards mike (consider it constructive criticism ), but thats just about the clumsiest website I have seen! I still feel like the customer is doing a LOT of work to find what he wants along with prices. There needs to be FULL descriptions of items so you dont have to navigate back and forth between the toptul page and mikes page to know what you are getting.

I hate to say this because I know a lot of people HATE the sears website. But at least its kid simple. there is no question as to what you are ordering (weather or not sears actually send the right product to you is another question). That is what mike should be going for. A full description, along with price and if possible a photo all in the same place. No back and forth navigation, no writing down part #'s off another page just to track them down on the page with prices. Currently the page with prices is missing full description for many items (does not say what finish it is, mirror, satin, etc).

I think if you want to make a lot of internet sales you will need a cleaner site that is easier to use. Again this is not meant to be negative. Its constructive criticism. I still plan to buy from him, Ill just likely do it through email so I know Im getting the right things.

Anything is better than that Sears site. That site is THE most poorly organized site on the web. There's no segregation what-so-ever; all of the drive sizes and opening sizes are jumbled on one page, and they're not in any kind of numerical order either. You may be looking at a 1/4 In. drive 10mm deep socket, and then the next socket right below it will be a 17mm shallow socket in 1/2 In. drive. WTF? :wtf:

Agreed...Id say a cross between Sears and Wrenhandtools site. Sears has all the detail for each individual item, they just arent organized. Mike has the organization, but not enough detailed info.

Yea, I like how they have ONE filter.

Sockets. Great. Not even a breakdown between sets or individuals? Not even impact/deep/regular/standard/metric

Their site is worse than it was at sears.com

I think the Sears site is actually pretty well organized. Once you apply the filter for drive size, 6 or 12 pt, easy to read...or whatever...then sort by price and you'll find that smaller sockets are cheaper than large ones...and they'll be nearly in perfect order. Same with wrenches. They still have some problems with stuff being put in the wrong category, but I seldom have trouble finding anything.

If you want to complain about the Sears site.....it is GOD AWFUL SLOW...but that's my biggest complaint.

Where are the drive size filters on the Sears or Craftsman sites?

The Craftsman site doesn't have all of the options of the Sears site...and is at least as slow, probably slower. I'm sticking with Sears for now.

Anyway, on the Sears site they are on the left. I would do a screenshot, but it is too slow.....sorry!

The shipping rate is an erroneous amount that my IT guy plugged in a few weeks ago to show me how it was working and it still shows up. It should be gone by tomorrow. Sorry for the screw up and the confusion

The site will always be getting improvements so it will get better and better as far as searching.

I am getting orders through the site as I type this so I know it can't be too hard to get around but I do listen to all the suggestions and complaints and try to act on them if I can. My goal is to give good service and improve the website as I go.

Thanks for the comments.....except for yours of course "B".....you can go "pound sand...." etc.

Be careful where you tread you are showing quite brightly that you are not deserving of being in business. All consumers and competition should be treated with respect you have not, it is the first rule of retail business. The second is the customer is always correct, the third is you serve the customer not the customer serve you.

Deserving of being in the internet retail business?!? I had no idea that it was such an exclusive club. :headscrat

Heck I thought the comment was kind of funny. I think the expression "the customer is always right" is usually used by certain types that feel that they deserve something. There is a shop around here where they will tell you to go pound sand, and if you don't like it well then you can go pound sand. They provide a service, and if you need that service you go and ask for it. If not, well then..

Are you a customer of Wren Hand Tools?

There's no retail rule that says "People who don't buy anything from me are always right."

"B" there is one thing you forgot in your Business Lesson, "you can't please all of the people all of the time" and there are always customers that will never be happy, no matter what you do for them. There are far more people that appreciate Mike for his personal service than his website, the website will come along as time goes by.

I was critical in the beginning with Mike and his so called "Stock on Hand" and I decided to put my money where my mouth is, place a large order and he had everything, with the exception of 2 large sockets. The other thing, if your are so put off with him and his website, then why do you even bother? Go complain about some other website, I'm sure there are plenty for you to find and complain about. I'm sure those people will care just about as much as Mike does or should. :stfu:
