cool. building a lift table right now, it'll be set in place and is a pain in the a.. because most of what i build is low (drag bike style) and i usely have to block it up to get it on a table or lift. i might steel your idea and sink it into my wood floor.

Is that the titanium race can? I just put mine on after owning the Mille a few years. Sure sounds good.

I think the picture in the OP has the stock can on.

Thought I'd share another HOG added to the pen over the winter. A new (to me) 2010 FLHX Street Glide. The garage has seen several transformations since post #33. Planning on adding a lift this summer to help house the toys. :)

Very nice.. I love it. One of my favorites on Garage Journal. I'd love to go a similar route with my attached garage if I ever build a separate garage. Turn the one attached to the house mainly into a nice clean hang out area and do most of the dirty wrenching in the other space.

I saw this every time you post something, Lawnman, but that garage is nicer than any HD shop I've ever been in. Absolutely awesome. What is the grey colored material underneath the diamond plate chair rail? Is that just paint or something else? I'm thinking of putting up some hard plastic or something to protect the drywall from door dings, the kids banging into the wall, etc.

pfbz, nice stable of KTM's. Don't think I know anyone that owns that many of them.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm fortunate that my oldest son lives close by where we have a "working" garage.

Thanks for the kind words. My wife only wishes I'd volunteer to clean the rest of our home as much as I do the garage.

The grey area below the diamond plate is just painted. I was orginally going to put up plastic as you mentioned however the concrete blocks protrude out enough to keep the wall nicks away. I may have to re-think this again now with my 18 month old grandson visiting frequently. He just loves hanging out in the garage.

Thanks, I think I'm going to try to find decent looking grey plastic. I have a 7 year old that thinks the garage is his hockey rink. There seem to be more little half-moon shaped dents in the drywall every time I go out there :shocking: I was going to do the lower portion in diamond plate until I priced it-yikes.

What's your source for that diamond plate trim-I think I'll do that as a transition piece between the plastic and drywall.

Being a BMW man, it's hard to give complements to an HD guy but that v-rod is sweet!!

Expatriated - Had a local guy getting me the diamond but he went out of business. Guess I beat him down too much on price.

Btw... a bimmer man can get along with a HD man, had a few BMW's myself. :)

Other than the HD, what else do you have lurking in that garage of yours?

Thanks Lawnman.

The bar and shield is still displayed real proud, even though it's behind the welding bench now.

The Longhorn, due to a painting mishap, is now gone. The whole wall is primed white. I'm still a Longhorn fan, even though I went to Texas State in San Marcos.

BSAschields,
You have a sweet collection. Is that a 69 in the second photo?

Yeah, TT. Right, I was looking at the 69 brakes. Love the pipes.

Love the wood floor. Cant make the barn any more secure?

Probably could but it would mean covering all of the walls with something since every wall board has an inch gap between each. ( hay barns are designed that way) or building a smaller room within the barn..... I think I'd rather just build a new garage like some of the amazing one I have seen on this site. The barn is fine for now. Just have bigger plans. :)

hat is a real beauty.... My wish list is very long!! Congrats !

Flange,

Nice Speedtwin!
Love the forks on the early ones

Thanks guys. I acquired the bike as a "barn find" but in reality it was not actually a bike as such but just a significant part of one. The parts I got were:

Frame (including engine plates), forks, wheels (but no wheel spindles), a saddle, pillion seat, voltage regulator, horn push, a single piston, an oil feed pipe including restrictor, a rear brake pedal and brake rod, a steering damper with broken knob, a top chain guard and a rear light.

There were almost no fasteners but it did have an amazing amount of documents and provenance so I decided to build it back to a complete bike.

That was a few years ago and its been one of those very difficult (and expensive) projects that you keep starting and stopping due to lack of parts or money or both. For instance I saw a pair of levers on ebay recently with a starting bid of $500. They were the first pair I have seen on ebay for 2 years. You eventually become a bit of a nerd on minor model changes from year to year. (I bet I am not the only one on here that this applies to)

Its not been easy locating some of the parts but I am now almost there. I have just finished making the control cables and next is a new wiring loom. Then I need to go over and check everything and start it up. Then I will partially dismantle it and get a few parts painted and then hopefully it should be finished. With one crucial exception. I need a tank. I have an Indian repro which is awful quality so i need an original one. I let one pass last year because someone else had promised a better one to me. That one turned out to be a post war 350 tank. Similar but not the same, the forks hit the front of the tank at full lock because the front sticks out further.

I will update you all when I get it moved forward a bit further although I currently have a house project that will take a couple of weeks to complete before I can get back into the garage.

Here is my cycle shop, only stipulation is the wife's car needs to fit in the winter time.. Got to keep her happy..

My lift is kind of rare, it is a mid rise siccors lift for cars, I added a platform with a wheel clamp to it. The platform comes off and I can wheel the over to the car bay and use to lift a car.

George's plan is to be able to have ANY of the bikes on his floor running in 30 minutes or LESS !

George <in the middle> is one of the most approachable, FRIENDLIEST guys youd ever hope to meet - if you see 'em (walking along around the property) stop 'em and thank him - he's got TONS of stories !

I see some Ebsco Corona bodywork! Did you pick those up from Wera?

Good eye, yeah that's the Corona Bodywork from WERA. If it was in better shap I would run it this summer. Pretty rough so the plan is to cut it in half and mount it on the wall and put some lights behind it. Maybe hang my spare wheels with it so it looks like half a bike on the wall.

That sounds like a neat idea with the wheels. I have a half of a GSXR upper hanging on the wall in my shop. Unfortunately, there was no cutting involved. It was torn in half when a good friend of mine went down during an AMA Superbike race at BIR. :scared:
