It took me three weeks, off and on a little bit each day. I was between jobs at the time so took the opportunity to paint this one up.

I'm a novice too. I just used a small print out on a piece of paper and used the paper as the "wall" to center it. I measured all distances from the edge of the paper and all straight lines on the paper using the millimeter side of the ruler. Then I scaled it up to my garage wall size. I did all the straight lines first.

From there, I measured how high to top and bottom points should be, then used string with thumb tacks until the string had the right look to it. I just eye balled it.

I penciled in on top of the string, stood back to make sure it looked right, then I used a Sharpy so it was dark enough to start painting. The drawing took about a week to get right.

Impressive.......very difficult to get the proportions that spot on lay' in it out buy hand

A simple way is to use a projector. Dim the lights and trace it right on the wall. Free hand paint or mask on the drawn lines. You can pick up a cheap one in most stores [toys] or an art store.


Some projectors will show it backwards. Most photo software can print a reverse image.

Cool thread here! This room is actually supposed to be my wood working shop in my basement, but it doubles as my bike room until I build my garage. Can't tell I'm a Triumph nut by the pic... From left to right: 2006 Triumph Rocket III SE 2300, 2004 Triumph Daytona 600, 1995 Triumph Daytona 1200. The Rocket is definitely the most exhilarating to drive. It's got 144 horsepower and 141 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheel. It's not extremely fast on the top end, but it will sure try to rip your arms out of their sockets on acceleration.

OK, I couldn't help myself on this one. This is the garage on the house I am rehabbing. Its three doors down the street from my home, and I do not have a garage there, so this is going to be it for a while.

Its "kind of" a garage. No rear window, no garage door, floor slopes 6 1/2 inches from the left to the right, roof leaks, rear floor is three inches lower than front section (immediate drop off). But it will be a garage. And it will eventually have my three motorcycles and my Handy pneumatic lift. Right now, I had trouble just getting one bike in here.... The piles are various debris I have removed from the house and crawl space: abandoned HVAC ducting, termite decayed wood, etc. Roofer has agreed to take all the debris when they replace the roof next week (roof on the house is bad too). If/when I pour some concrete around here, I will address the rear floor issue.

The other two bikes, two pull behind trailers, and the Handy Lift will wait until I get this garage secured (garage door on order too).

Let these serve as the BEFORE pics. Its way down the project list, but I will at least make it a secure garage. Really need the concrete poured on the rear floor to get things all at the same level.

Here's mine. The wife's truck get to be in there about 10 days a year when the temp hits -30 or 40 in the winter, but for the most part, it's for bikes only. 26 x 30, overhead radiant, made a great place to work all winter!

Thanks, I got the Yamaha one from the dealer (expensive), and the Kawasaki one came from Ebay.

The only con to the lift is it isnt powered, you have to jack it up with your leg

Its all pro's from there on in, wouldnt be without it! stops you having to scrape around on ya hands and knees and makes any job on the bike about 100x easier!

is it wobbly at all?like twists back and forth at all?how many pumps does it take to get it up to height?i'm playing with the idea of getting one....

Nope, solid as a rock, doesnt wobble anywhere!

Probably takes about 15 pumps to get it to full height

Dont play with the idea, just buy one, you wont regret it !

Sadly, this is part way through a little rework. Still a bunch of junk to get rid of and reorganize. The wood workbench, the welding table, and the storage on the left wall for the bike ramps, wheel chock, and hand cart were all added this weekend. Bikes, from left to right: 1980 Yamaha XS650 rigid bobber, 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100, and 2007 Yamaha Roadliner.

some of ya'll are blessed to have multipule bikes i'v been wanting a cheap sportster or even an old BSA for like 10 years but just havent been able to own a motorcycle yet. Hopefully in the next couple of years it will happen.
