Great post at a great time for me, as I have a Norton surface grinder & an ancient flat belt driven drill press sitting on a car hauler trailer for me to move inside.
I've used pipes to move most of my stuff. (6' box break, lathe, mill, etc.....)
For this one I'm lucky enough to be able to borrow a set of machine moving tanks. Not sure of the technical name but you can roll just about anything with them as long as you're on hard surface. Hope to move them Sunday.
For the hot tub, drag it on a peice of plywood or rent/borrom a tractor with a front end loader.
Good Luck.

I recently bought a 3000 lb. lathe. Seller loaded it onto my trailer with a gantry crane, but when I got it home I found that I could not get the engine hoist into a safe position to unload it. Finally had to call a wrecker service to unload it and set it onto a pallet jack inside the garage.

The pallet jack makes it possible to move it around. I set it onto two pieces of 4x4. Once I get the final position I should be able to lift each end with the engine hoist to remove the 4x4 and lower to the floor.

Both the engine hoist and pallet jack cost me $100 each, a bargain in my estimation.

This is more for in the house than in the garage, but when I have to move heavy stuff across carpeting I use thos cheap, roll up, snow sleds for the kids.
They are just a 16x30 pice of heavy plastic with a hand hole punched in one end.
But they are slippery and glide on the carpeting real well.

I use my skidsteer loader with a homemade crane attachment. I would rent a piece of equipment. Around here half day rentals are available. Spend a few bucks and don't get hurt, sounds like a good deal.
