Great build! My dad used to live in Genessee, now lives down near UoD.
Would love to see more details on the rainwater catchment system!
PA: wonderful home and thanks for sharing!!
Since I’ve helped hundreds of guys and gals set up their home gyms I did notice you’ve got maybe my favorite piece of gym equipment. How do you and your family like the versaclimber?

My wife wants to put a sauna in our gym. Can you share some details? What did you choose as the heat source, gas or electric? And what specific unit if you know and your review of it so far. Thanks.![]()
It’s actually REALLY easy. This is our second one.
In our previous house I finished our basement mostly myself.
Once the room is framed out, take measurements and order a kit online. There are a ton of places. Research them all a bit, looking for reviews. Most of the kits are super basic and easy.
We went with electric as most do. We needed a 220 line in place where the heater goes, a 110 line on the back wall where the light/lights went and a light switch on the outside of the door.
Insulate the walls, then cover the inside in a silver heat reflective wrap that comes with the kit.
From there it’s just a matter of cutting in the cedar, putting in trim to hide corners, putting together the remade benches and wiring up the lights and heater.
It’s a long weekend project really.
Awesome thanks. What kit did you end up going with if you don't mind sharing? The future gym this goes in is a standalone new build on the property so at this point we have total freedom on size etc. Just trying to get an early head start on some of the details I am not familiar with.
Thanks for sharing. The house looks great and I know that area west of the Backbone is equally great. Congrats.
BTW there is a Woodcraft store near the intersection of 34 and the interstate.

I honestly can’t remember... Sauna warehouse maybe?
A caution on size though; our old house didn’t have ceilings as tall. We ended up keeping the ceiling height in this new sauna. Not really needed and it takes a little bit longer to heat up.
