I was waiting to post where I ordered my Big Maxx heater just in case it wasn't a legit site. I got it yesterday and everything is on the up and up. I ordered it on the 7th and it got to my house on the 13th. Not bad...
It seems like this is a pretty awesome deal, so check it out and see for yourself.
It includes the propane conversion kit if you need it.

$259. for the 50k btu and $319 for the 80k

URLS deleted by OP. The sellers are credit card thieves... You get the product at the expense of victim of getting their credit card stolen apparently.

With the right heater placement location a Cat III pipe install can be less than $200.
The CAT III vent pipe will last a life time........B vent in horizontal can have a short service life. Most believe the corrosion of B vent was the reason for the change.

Will post a B vent corrosion pics later.

Vertical B vent recommendations or code or manufacture requirements has not change.

Horizontal venting requirements is the change in the last few years.

Thanks for the link. I really wanted a Reznor but they are $800, and my 2nd choice of Modine is $600. At $259 for the Mr Heater, I could not justify spending more. Now I need to buy the class 3 stainless horizontal vent for $300.

I'm glad this helped some of you out. I really dug around for the venting solution and decided to go with vertical. I bought the 4" kit from this site for $79:
http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/product/vertical-venting-kit/heating-accessories

Vertical will be a little harder install, but I couldn't justify the cost difference for horizontal. Hopefully this kit will cover everything I need for my short run.
I went with 4" because it looked like that was the only size Mr. Heater was offering now for both their 50k and 80k heaters. I know my 50k does call for 3" though. Anyone know if there's an issue there before I install it?

Dang that is a great price! I paid $440 for mine (with credit card rewards, so nothing out of pocket) but it felt like a great deal at the time.

Why did you buy the 4" kit, it is more expensive and your heater calls for a 3" vent

3" will work on heaters up to 75k/80k

The vertical install is pretty easy and straightforward, just make sure you measure twice and cut the roof once, haha

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325943
I was going to go with the 3", but with Mr. Heater only selling the 4" kit now, I figured they updated something and the 4" would be better for their system. I'd rather it was 1" big than 1" small. I can't imagine it makes that much of a difference, but I could be wrong....

I doubt it will matter, your heater is power vented anyways right?

Will an adapter piece be needed where 4" kit connects to the heater? 3" to 4"

I'm thinking to 50k would be big enough for my 36x22 with 10 foot ceilings?

I just got my gas meter on the house replaced and had them prep it so I can run a line over to the garage easily.

I believe it comes with it or with the kit I bought. If not, it's just one of many things I'm sure I'll have to grab as I install it. I still need to grab the gas lines to branch off my tank to the garage.

When I try and pay for the heater it says that PayPal is having trouble at the moment and won’t go through??

I had the same thing happen trying to order one last night and again this morning.....seems weird. I can access my Paypal account just fine otherwise.

I ordered the 50k yesterday. Some reviews of the website are questionable, so we'll see where it goes. Can always dispute the purchase on PayPal if needed.

I ordered my 80K unit yesterday morning, with nothing eventful. Paypal worked as normal.

I checked yesterday afternoon, an the status was 'preparing for shipment. When I checked this morning, it has a tracking number generated, but it hasn't been actually picked up by UPS yet.

Seems legit, give it another try.

Just tried to check out with the 80k heater again and it goes to PayPal but it says “things don’t seem to be working at the moment please try again later”. I want a heater but PayPal doesn’t seem to like me.

Thanks OP. I had ordered this heater from Northern for $80 more plus tax. I called them and they have a long drawn out process for possible price match, so I told them I would just return it to them at the store instead of picking it up.

Finally! I got an email from them and they got their PayPal issue sorted. I was able to order an 80k unit just now. Think it will be enough for my 36x48x14 shop? It seems like it would but I have two 12x14 roll up doors and although I payed more for the insulated doors it still isn’t much R7 or something like that. If I parallel two of them do they both need to be the same BTU?

Just got a tracking number for the 50k unit I ordered. Shows it should be delivered Wednesday and the package is 69lb.

I would highly suggest doing the "burner pinch" modification before installing these, especially on the larger 80k units

Thanks. Those are from 2010, so I'm going to install it without the mod. Hopefully they've addressed the issue in 7 years... If I have problems I'll give it a shot. I appreciate you posting that up though.

I just installed an 80k heater, Modine Hot Dawg......

I bet they all use the same burner design, because my heater was tripping the top flame rollout sensor

A quick 10 minute burner disassembly and a burner pinch (and a weld job to keep the pinch tacked shut).......problem solved

Mine (a 80K unit) has a tracking number, but doesn't show up that UPS has actually picked it up yet. Disappointing. Hopefully that is because of UPS, and not the shipper. Your shows that it is in UPS's hands?

Why not? Mine shows shipped and my UPS tracking number is moving. It left from Greensboro, NC.
Mine also left from Greensboro and shows its 69lb shipping weight.
