I sat down tonight determined to order one.
Now I am not so sure?

Order it. Shipper is good. UPS *****. Mine also shows that it will arrive on Thursday, and has been in their system for a while. THEY just didn't update it, because it sure didn't make it that far in the couple hours since i checked it last.

Mine is 89#, since its a 80k unit, but all else jives on the UPS site NOW.

Now I just need to decide if I am going to have my propane lines inspected after I hook it up or if I am good with just soap and water testing my lines....

Ordered an 80K unit today. Just got an email stating it will ship tomorrow. A buddy ordered a 50K unit. Same deal.

It's Paypal for payment so the likelihood is high that a remedy will be swift if there is an issue.

Everything looks good. The box actually had a order form from Northern Tool, and it shows it at $379. Looks like it was drop-shipped.

Sounds like you have a valid receipt to do a exchange instore, if it does get damaged in shipping.

Mines still showing arrival tomorrow.

My Hot Dawg 75k was $575 shipped, and even though it was new and never installed and had a Home Depot tag on the box, but came from a salvage business. The metal case of the heater was a tad dented

Of course Northern is going to claim the site is fraudulent. That way they don't have to give you a refund. I think I'd push the issue and tell them they need to prove that it's fraudulent. It obviously isn't. Several of us received what we purchased. I agree with you D45, except I don't think they're returns. Mine was factory sealed by the looks of it.

I got a email from northerntool today, after I posted a link to this forum with members getting units from this company, she refunded me the difference of 85.00. Im waiting to see the refund on my CC though, might take a day or two.


oh and just for a follow up, I picked up my unit yesterday from my mail receiving company in Niagara Falls, NY. and the box was totally beaten up. I dont think they are packaged well.

Units are showing that they are back in stock again......Didn't actually try to order one, since I already have one.

As far a counterfeits- A couple of you that got 50K units, post your serial number. (or at least the last few digits) Counterfeits usually all have the same serial number..because they go REAL fast.

Any body else get a 80K? the last four on my tag is 2183. According to the Mr. Heater site, it a 2017 model, and valid.

Mine came today also. 50k unit, the box was beat up a little bit. Heater is fine. No external dents or anything. Mine also had Northerns paperwork inside the box with my name under "ship to". I did order another one. It showed was in stock today.

Well, Im very happy with Northern tool , checked my CC online and they refunded me 85.00 for the price difference. So I actually got a very good deal, got my 80k for 320.00 plus a 50.00 gift card from Northern Tool when I bought the unit.

I'm 1/2 tempted to order the 80k one in addition to the 50k I bought just because of the price. I'm not real surprised about the boxes getting beaten up. They appear to be packed pretty well, but this time of year all the shipping companies are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Luckily when mine came in there was barely a scratch on the box.
Now to run the gas at least temporarily. It was 1 degree when I left for work this morning. 23 in the garage. My torpedo heater just doesn't cut it...

If there was a menards in my area, I would have considered spending $500 on the Stirling Beacon Morris instead of the $250 Big Maxx since I have read of more issues with Mr Heater than other brands. But no menards near me and shipping raises the price. At $350 for the Big Maxx I was considering $600 for the Modine. But when the Big Maxx price dropped to $250, I threw caution to the wind.

I just got finished installing my 80000 btu Mr. Heater....

40 degrees outside and a toasty 65 in my 1500 sqft garage... Very happy with this purchase.

My 80k heater arrived today. The condition was similar to the others who posted above. The box was thrashed but I only found one tiny scratch on the heater itself.
