I wanted to thank the op for posting this deal. Just ordered my 80k unit. Saved quite a bit of money. And now I don't have to go deaf useing my torpedo heater anymore.

I just got finished installing my 80000 btu Mr. Heater....

40 degrees outside and a toasty 65 in my 1500 sqft garage... Very happy with this purchase.

My 80k heater arrived today. The condition was similar to the others who posted above. The box was thrashed but I only found one tiny scratch on the heater itself.

Thanks again OP! You’ve really come through for all of us with cold garages this winter.

Thanks to OP for the links, and this whole thread. I just ordered the 80K for $319.00 !!! total!
Went there for the 50K, not listed now. Checked the 80, saw the 319, jumped!

Paypal, we'll see what next.

Paypal notification: "You just paid $319 to Howard Wiener"
Did you guys receive similar?
No MrSurly. Mine says Peter Zollinger on Paypal right now. My first one went to "DH Love". I'm so glad this worked out for so many of you. I know it sounds cheesy, but it puts a smile on my face to know that I helped a few of you out.
You probably won't believe this, but I couldn't help myself. I bought the 80k unit for $319! I hadn't installed the 50k yet and I was hemming and hawing about whether it would be big enough. I know I can throw the 50k on craigslist and get at least what I paid for it if I decide to sell it.
Come on heat!! Dang zero degree weather is keeping me out of my garage.

Very odd......i hope the purchases are legit and they don't get disputed
Honestly I'm not sweating it in the least. I got my 50k unit without even a hiccup. Other than the different names on paypal, I still see zero signs of a scam. The different names could be just their business model. Maybe there are a bunch of different people that sell through them? I dunno, I don't care as long as I get my heater. If I don't, either Paypal or my credit card will take care of it.

And my paypal transaction was with Steven Karsten. Smells funny.

I agree, the many names thing does sound fishy.... but if I receive the merchandise, what could be disputed? I sent money, someone sent a heater ( I hope) I can’t see an issue unless on the *seller’s* end.
Maybe he has a rouge employee stealing his receivables?
An internal issue, methinks.

Probably a “new age” business model.
As long as I get the product and the seller gets the funds, were done, here.
I do wonder if there’s a factory warranty?

I'm not complaining, I did get my furnace, and have been it thoroughly. I checked the serial number on the Mr. Heater website, it was manufactured in 2017.

We always had Paypal backing us up, since it was a product sale.

Cripes, even if didn't have a warranty on it, it seems everything is pretty accessible, available, and relatively cheap.

The only reason I said anything, is to make sure everyone had all the data to make their own decision. There is a little bit fear that this might be a house of cards, and this might catch up to future buyers. BUT; there are no claims via BBB, and the site has been running for quite some time.

I'm VERY appreciative to the OP. Warm garage, and i wouldn't have pulled the trigger this quickly, if it wasn't for the 'deal'

- Added note...in only took 6 years, but finally got my 100th post. Waaayy to much lurking, i guess. :)

Rotating names probably means a person is buying these on fraudulent / hacked accounts having them drop-shipped, and you are transferring legit funds to other accounts.

Kind of textbook money laundering right there... Like all the HF drop-ship fraud on eBay...

I don’t understand the PayPal account(s) but if it’s indicative of fraud, it is certainly *unusual* in send ing various incoming funds through different accounts.
I don’t think it means that *we* are being cheated somehow but perhaps it’s a tax dodge(?) for the seller? I don’t know of course and remain curious to see what’s next.
Searching for seller reviews I found six total and they were 100% bad. I remain hopeful and optimistic. (And cold) looking forward to HEAT!

I just checked the website and now the 50k is back in stock at $339 and the 80K is backordered at $319. Still cheaper than Northern Tool but not as good of a deal as before.

I just clicked the 80k and got "product not found." 50k was still there at the $339. Probably caught them in the middle of updating the site.

Bummed I missed out on the 50,000 unit!
Is the 80k unit stupid overkill for a 2 car garage?

I do see the 30,000 Mr Heater wall units for around $170. Would this be a decent alternative to the 50k unit for a 2 car garage?
There is a blue flame and a radiant version....which is preferred and why?
These are non-vented, therefore much lower cost to install, but I hear it creates a moisture issue.
I need a propane version.

Currently on sale at Tractor supply for about 15% off:
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/catalog/wall-baseboard-heaters

Thanks for any guidance.

Here is my guess..

Website is being run fraudulently. Buyer pays for heater via paypal to random paypal account. Criminals running site place order with Northern tool using stolen credit cards. Card is accepted and Northern drop ships the heater to your home (hence the Northern manifest). Criminals have your funds, you have your heater, all is well but credit card company and/or Northern (most likely credit card company) takes the loss on the fraud.

Even though the priced jumped i said F it, i cant get it anywhere else cheaper so i ordered the 50k. Apparently "Abdo Ismail" is the merchant.

Is there a way to run this off a 20lb tank or is that just way too small, even just to test it. Is a 100lb tank the minimum you guys would recommend?

You might be able to run it for 10 - 15min on a 20lb tank. Good chance it will freeze up at some point though.

They were $300 light on the Honda EU2000i generator at $699 which is gone today but I got a screenshot of and are an easy $120 light on the Miller Handy Mig welder @ $228. I like good deals. I don't like this. These prices are below jobber acquisition cost so some merchant or wholesaler somewhere is getting skinned alive. Not much different than if someone backed a truck up to his warehouse and loaded it up and sold items for half price in the parking lot down the street.

Credit card company pays for fraudulent use. Not that fraud is good.

I'd think the 80k would be way overkill in a 2 car garage which is why i didnt buy the 80k. For the past 9 years i used one of the those dual element tank top heaters that sit on the propane tank that's rated at 30k btu. It takes a while to heat up the garage when it's below 20° but it gets the place comfortable to work. I dont have much insulation in my garage, if any. I've never had an issue with condensation with it running but i'd really prefer a vented heater. Those wall mounted heater would work but arent the best alternative.

Yeah 80K would be crazy overkill for a 2 car......insulated or not

I have a 75k for my 1,000 sq foot.....and that is almost too large

I have a window that I open and allow the heat to go into another 450 sq foot garage and it heats up both areas (nearly 1,500 sq ft) fast

Not an unreasonable thought, but IMO they've been going way too long. I think they'd have been raided or at least the site shut down by now. If I remember right, PayPal has some financial requirements like a checking account to get set up right? I'm not saying it's not possible. Far from it, but I'm saying there would be a lot more to this than a simple "accept this guys money, but pay for the products with this guys money.
What concerns me with your scenario is not so much some scumbag thief getting rich, but the possibility of helping fund terrorism.
I'll ponder the possibilities in my warm garage in the mean time.

Pretty strange operation, for sure.
The 80K I ordered yesterday hasn’t shipped yet but the status on their site says “we’re pleased to inform you that your item is being processed” and it’s in the warehouse... or words to that effect.
I won’t believe it until it’s in my hands but I have high hopes!

I ran my 75K modine off a 100lb tank for 6 days. had no issues. used about 10 gallons over that period. I think a 20 lb tank would be too small.... would have issues freezing up. My regulator off the 100lb'er got darn frosty a couple nights

I bought my 80K at Menards for 353 plus tax after the 11% rebate, I don't need 80K for my 2 car garage, but if my plan comes together and I build a 30 x 60 building, I'll move it over there. :)

So I got my heater in perfect shape so I should be happy but....... There is no question that this stuff is purchased off stolen accounts. The Bill to is a woman Kansas and the ship to was me. As someone mentioned above the are using stolen accounts buy then drop ship items. I emailed northern tool to see what they say but there is no question this is a criminal selling these.

Hard to raid criminal enterprises outside of the country and/or shutdown a site hosted from outside the country.

Perhaps you can remove some of the speculation by taking a photo of the shipping manifest that came with the heater and posting it.

I would disagree with your *absolute certainty* only because you can’t be Absolutely Certain with no more information than has been presented.
You’ve made multiple Statements of Fact that you can’t prove (none of us can) at this point in time. If the shipping docs were not included then we’d all have nothing to be suspicious about except the super price.
I’ll agree it surely looks fishy and I’d like to know what Northern says (if anything).
Is it possible that they have some volume deal with Northern and some reason for these documents? Reselling returns?
I guess it’s possible.
The real worry all of us should have *IF* these are stolen and they’re using stolen accounts, are they stealing OUR ACCOUNTS for use next week?

Is anyone going to try to call the name on the manifest to ask if they’ve been charged?
