pretty sure it's only ~50 for shipping so you'd be better off getting it through northerntool. You'd save about 60 bux or more depending on the taxes (if applicable).

Is the vent kit available locally, cause it's availbable from northern as well and is a good deal. I doubt you can get all the stuff in the vent kit cheaper.

Don't forget the evil exchange rate right now,as well as the horrendous brokerage charge($100-120.00) if shipped UPS!.389x1.30=$505.70!+shipping,handling,brokerage,GST.You might want to get it locally...

I think you can save 30% by using Microsoft live search and ebay. I thought one of the ebay vendors was Northern Tool.

I found your thread while I was searching to see if anyone else has had as many problems with their Mr. Heater. I installed my garage heater, MHU45, in Jan. of '07 and have had nothing but problems and downtime. I've also found the customer service has little to desire. The circuit board had to be replaced right away. The heater would not ignite and after several attempts, got through to customer service to get the board sent to me (covered under the one year warranty). Still, the heater would only work if the cover was kept off. Then the fan blade broke away from the collar piece it attaches to. This time I could not get customer service to help me (transferred from dept. to dept., had to leave voicemails, and never did get a response). Then my warranty expired. Currently, it won't ignite, again. I truly regret buying a Mr. Heater hanging furnace. These should be good heaters (the competitors have great reputations: Reznor, Hot Dawg, Beacon Morris), but the parts are obviously inferior. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Many states have lemon laws. That might help in this case. Contact the consumer department of your state attorney general (if you're in the US that is).

I have the 45000 btu LP version of this heater and love it. Sounds as though the one gentleman got a bad one but in my dealings with their tech people was better than his and they were very nice and helpful. Like anything else, there are bad ones that get through the factory, that goes for anything you buy. I got their exhaust kit and used a Honeywell t-stat that I took out of my house and put in the garage for my furnace and everything works perfect.

I've had my Mr Heater 75K for over 3 years. It has worked flawlessly. I have 2 friends with them as well. No problems there either. If mine dies, I'll buy another. They are a great heater.

I am thinking about one of these heaters. My problem is I don't have a gas line to my shop. Does anyone use or know if you could run this off of a 100lb propane bottle?

Yes you can, I am running 2 40lb tanks tied with a regulator to run 1 tank and then automatically switch to the full one so I could fill the empty one. Great heater!!

Just wondering, is there a difference between gas and propane heaters or will they run on either one?

They can usually be changed from one to the other depending on the manufacturer. But they are not built to run both. They need to be one or the other.

Well, after no response to the voicemail messages I left, I posted an email on the Enerco site. I received a phone call the very next business day. The gentleman was very appologetic and sent me a new fanblade assembly and circuit board. My heater is up and running again. The fanblade is much improved, but the relay in the board is same type and manufacturer. This is my third circuit board. I'm glad others have had better luck with their units and also glad for the help I received.

Seems I've been having problems like MonteIA. I'm on my third heater here from NorthernTool. First 2 came all busted up, Northern Tool sent me new ones with no questions asked. The third came without a scratch so I mounted it to the ceiling and hooked it up but it won't fire up. It clicks and shows spark but won't fire. I called Mr Heater and they said its a circuit board problem, they sent me a new circuit board which I hooked up and still have the same problem. I called Mr Heater again and the man said he hated to say this but they've had a circuit biard problem and he thinks this one is bad too. They're sending me another.

I'm about ready to call Northen Tool for a refund if this next board doesn't work. It sure is a nice looking unit but winter will soon be over ( I hope) and I'll still be using my space heater.

Any suggestions on a different brand?

Thanks...

I installed my LP Mr. Heater last week and while waiting for the natural gas service to be installed I thought I would run it off my propane tank. Then I can install my conversion kit and connect to NG.

Anyway, I had the same experience. The exhaust fan would come on and then the igniter would start sparking but no flame. After several tries thinking there was air in the line, I changed the regulator on my tank and it fired right up. Kind of strange, but it now works.
