Mr Heater will not fire

I finally broke down and bought a Mr Heater 45k BTU garage heater. The propane company installed it last night, except for the electrical. I wired a 16gauge electrical extention and plugged it into an outlet. I followed the startup instructions as per manual. The light is flashing "Slow flash" - "no call for heat" as per manual. The unit will not fire. In the manual there are several references to a "thermostat". Is this part of the unit? If yes, where exactly is it? What am I doing wrong here?
TIA

Tony yes that unit will require a heat only thermostat . You can get one at Homie desperate in the Heating isle get a decent Honeywell and also you will need some 2 wire thermostat wire to hook it up :D. I would recomend putting the thermostat either behind the unit on the wall down low or on the oposit side of the garage from the unit .

Thank you Rick. I finally got it working. The instructions that came with the unit are very poorly written and confusing.

LOL Tony if they are anything like most mini split system instructions ( they are loosely translated from Korean and I mean LOOSELY :D ) . Good to hear you got it running.

So the digital thermostats that they sell at Home Depot that control both heat and cool will not work? I bought the same heater and need to get a thermostat, but I did not see any heat only.
