O_M, looks great! If you havent gone for more tuck tape yet, just use packing tape if you have some around. Works fine on poly, especially for 1.5'

Couch: I might just do that. Then again, I will probably need more eventually to fix something. I just decided to stop because it was 9pm.

Not grown up: I scored about 45 sheets of 1/2" melamine/particle board. It's a light maple veneer. It was super cheap and I didn't want dryway so I went with it. I'll see how it goes. I've got some trim stained in different colours to accent it. It will be different, that's for sure.

Deal is a deal...I went with OSB 1/2” in ceilings and 7/16” on walls all screwed, but might change it later in life if it gives me issues...

same here. All OSB screwed in. That way I can easily remove any piece at any time to get behind the wall without damaging or having to spackle or do any of that ****. lol. i already had to remove a piece to adjust/add some wiring. Made it so easy!! Below is an old pic but it shows the walls and ceiling. Going to paint it all white or light gray with some accents.

green2kgt - White paint would go a long way towards improving lighting in that space. All that light sucking OSB makes me cringe.

I really enjoy it, here's the other half.

Our realtor told us that doing something that would increase value and/or make for quicker sell if we have to move in a few years. Before you couldn't even make it out there on foot the forest was so dense. He also told me that building a garage was sort of lost money, no real increase in value.

WHAT A VIEW!!!!!

Thats crazy the garage doesnt add value...

Not a lot of people care about a second garage. Hell, most people use their first garage as just storage. You know, keep your expensive car outside but put your crappy walmart lawn furniture inside.... I guess it would be like if you are comparing two identical houses; one is a 3 bedroom 3-1/2 bath and the other is $20K more, 3 bedroom 5-1/2 bath. Does anyone really care about having 2 extra bathrooms? Most people don't. Just like most people won't care about having an extra garage.

Todays progress: I got most of the ceiling up. It doesn't look that great. It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.Reminds me of a 70s warehouse. Oh well, I guess I will have to just go with it and make the whole thing look likes it out of the 70s or something. I have no pictures, I will just take pictures when the walls are done.

If the man shopping for a house around here sees a detached shop, it always helps ...The guy that appraised my house 2 years ago said my 24x24 added about 10000 to 15000 to my property.

It helps no doubt. I don't doubt that the city appraisers are more than happy to raise the value as well. I am also sure different realtors will have different opinions.

I do agree, it helps. I may not get more money for it but it should sell a hell of a lot quicker. This shape/design of house is popular in this area so this should help to differentiate it.

This morning's progress. I have one wall complete minus the window trim. I made the mistake when I precut everything of not putting the top piece of trim over the wall board, it sits above. There is a gap. I will either fix it somehow with another piece of trim later or just leave it. It is a garage after all.

So far I am starting to dig the colour scheme.

The order from bottom to top is 1X6 strapping stained, melamine board, stained 1/2 plywood, melamine board, and stained 2X3.

There are gaps here and there because so board every goes on truly straight but I will just live with it.

The colour is actually a brighter green than in the picture.

Looks Great!

(except for the cheesy cord mounted light fixtures)

They were cheap and easy. I didn't want to research lighting diagrams in the lighting forum for days on end to find out what I needed what too expensive. These give me flexibility if I need to change things in the future. But yes...cheesy.

I really like the way it’s coming along...

Why thank you.

Afternoon's progress: I managed to get another wall done. Those panels are really heavy. Few mistakes made, few panels wasted. Oh well. I'm not sure how I am going to fill the gaps. I got some almond coloured caulking that I am going to try.

Tomorrow is my last day before I go to work on a 4 day string. During work I plan on prestaining the door and window trim.

A bit of glare from the cheesy lights.

Well the walls and ceiling are done. This means I no longer have to try to lift those heavy sheets nor do I have to use that sketchy drywall lift that almost killed me twice.

I found some beige thermoplastic rubber based sealant. It matches okay and fills in the voids. It's easy to work with in the corners but I am have a hard time where two **** up. Below is a picture of a caulked corner.

I've been using the piece of staging below to to hold and carry all the wood and trim I have. It's pretty handy. I might keep it set up as a wood rack and self.

Looks good man....don’t fret too much on the little details, remember it’s a garage after all...if you wanted perfection, drywall was the only way IMHO....you did great.

Thanks all for the compliment!

All that's left is a few odds and ends. Oh, and decide what to do with the floor. I am thinking of just using garage floor paint. All the fancier products seem very expensive up here.

After installing my heater I realized I probably should have asked the electrician to rough in for a wall mounted thermostat.

Don't know if you already mentioned it. Your lights look like they are plug in and you have plugs in your ceiling? Just wondering about that?

Yes and yes. Cheapy Costco lights. Got the electrician to put in 9 outlets for 9 lights. All one circuit on one switch. If I need to change the lights, change where they are, add more, or whatever I can easily do so. That's the plan I was going with.

Blown in complete! Wife helped, she was the loader. It may not help with your arthritis but it was actually a very painless thing to do. Straight forward, simple, and quick. The only pain was having to walk on trusses and not being able to stand up straight for a good hour.

Next up is window trim and spray foam, thermostat install (I really should have thought of that before sheeting), and garage door opener. Slowly but surely.

On the plus side I did put my garage to use. I finally put my winter tires on my truck using my hoist!

Ya, it was raining and just slightly above freezing on my way into work this evening. Not fun.

As for the lift, I hope it works out. My plan is to use it to drop the engine out of a 911 this winter.

Great progress, old_man. The finished walls look nice.

I missed in your thread where you talked about your lift. Can you provide any more details?

MaxJax MX6. Only downside of that one is that it's a midrise and doesn't go all the way to 72". Reason I got it is it is semi-portable so I can stow one of the posts when not in use and if I ever move, distinct possibility, I can take it with me and set it up in an 8' ceiling garage.
