So after the successful test I discovered that it is too easy to rotate, not good when working on a bike but it does need to rotate a 1/4 turn when using as an elevator so it needed an anti-rotational device:willy_nil that would be easy to disconnect when needed.:headscrat This is what I came up with. 1 pipe inside another. The bigger pipe is welded to the wall of the enclosure and with a 5' section of the smaller pipe inside and pinned to the hat. Keeps it straight going up and down and unpins when it needs to rotate.:bounce:

Ok finally got the floor cut out and framed. I built "flip plates" on hinges to hold the floor in place when not in use. A friend of mine installs elevators and gave me guide wheels that run along the posts in each corner.

That is quite the shop with a bunch of interesting engineering inside! It looks amazing.

Plus a trusty cattle dog for protection. I know what that's about.. really useful...

Hey good lookin dog! I lost my blue in 2013 same day George Jones passed.(sad day) After a week of silence around the house we decided to get 2 of them, both from ACDRA. The red male “Dinger” is all ACD. Georgia’s mother is ACD - just not sure what the father was. It was a hit and run.:bounce:

Put the lights back up after cutting out the floor. Wired the two together and put an outlet near the top so I can unplug them when the floor comes down. The outlet is wired to the rest of the lights in that bay that are on a switch.

so it's been a while since I updated anything in the shop but I did add some new lighting over the bike lift. Added 100 watt led flood lights to each corner of the elevator floor to get more direct light when working on a bike on the lift. Part of getting older I guess, made a big difference. Can actually see my screw ups now.

Love your shop and the bike lift/elevator is ingenious. I want two post and beam structures: one for a home and one for a shop.

Hey Geezer thanks for the compliment! I wish our house was P&B too, we have a few rustic features that match it like our mantle.

Looks good!

You can never have too much light! I hate working in shadows. I like work areas to be lit up like an operating room?

So I was asked to get better pics the flip plates that hold the floor in place when not using the elevator. These are a little better I hope.

And a couple shots of the upstairs. It gets a little crowded in the winter. Still have room for a few more.

The wife brought me a little gift the other day so I had to find a place for it. I am running out of wall space so hung it behind the bike lift for now, yes or no?
