The Roof is coming along nicely! I am expecting the roof to be finished within 2 days. Then the tin.

Starting to get excited. Have decided not to dress the diner and complete it now until we get closer to building the house as I am concerned it will attract unwanted attention.

Shane, again looking fantastic, I am in awe of your build.

Have you thought about recessed LED down lights for general lighting, then may be a period correct wall light between the window and PA and or a ceiling light/s to match?

Regards

I will be using white but which profile? The top one is one stole the second and third are the same.

I'll be fitting the battens tomorrow and doing the pre wife for the diner tomorrow also.

I'd suggest match it to other elements on the building. So if you're doing something like smooth timber posts for an awning section, the smoother profile cladding options would go better. If there aren't much, maybe the first sample will work. Our old house had the faux wood grain effect like sample one (ours was concrete board cladding not metal or plastic). Generally I dont like faux woodgrain effects, but painted the right colour it worked really well.

amazing build. i guess that is a normal construction type in your area? is western au where it gets so hot? if so, are planning any heat/cooling system? one more- are you going to clad the yellow brick shop?

Hey Jim,

Brick is common here due to termites.

i will have a reverse cycle HVAC in the diner. the shed has electronic ventilators.

don't have gas on the property. will use bottled gas for heaters when needed.

The Creme bricks will stay as they are. Although i plan on putting some 1950's billboards up on the two faces that are in the same direction as the diner if that makes sense.

Thanks for stopping by!

With the roof on, and everything moving I am working through some small projects.

I have organised the floor paint.

I am currently working on lights to go above the work bench.

I have made a mock up.

Will post some pictures of my bench design later.

Looks great Shane,

I have been following your progress with interest. Hope my wife does not see the finished photo's of how tidy and organised the inside is. Love your work.

Ken

Ken,

Thanks I appreciate that!

Lol the inside is empty the last time it will look tidy haha. Hopefully with a bit of room it will allow me to keep it organized :)

Sure thing, I have 2 1937 Chev four doors, a 1958 Chevy fleet side and I'm building a 1948 dually Chev truck. Being a Holden dealer I'm sure you can notice a trend :)

Would love to see some pics  A mate is building a '37 Chev sedan, and another is building a '38 Chev coupe ute and a sloper, so they've piqued my interest in them.

WAHOOO!!! The Roof and cladding are finished!

Now to finish doing the windows and try and find the best design for my carpenter to build the carriage doors for the gas station/diner doors.

the roller doors for the shed are due in a couple of weeks.

I hope to have the floor painted by then.

Now comes the fun stuff!!
