I have finished Acid Etching the floor, just waiting for it to dry out and then I will be painting it with PPG Amerlock 2K/400. I did it over two weekends because I run out of acid. I was worried I wouldn't know where I finished, after going back I realised it was obvious! always nice to see a big change in something you do it helps to convince me it was needed and worthy!

The garage roller doors go on next week. Then I need to paint the floors and then I can install the first section of Pallet Racking and then I can start to move things in. For now it will be mainly storing things Ill use the Garages at my current house to complete any works.

I have to finish the Bathroom in the garage first, then I can start the electrical layout etc. The good thing is once I can store tools there it will be a lot easier!!

Just on the lookout for cheap electrical supplies now!

Shane

Have spent the weekend Patching small imperfections in the floor and started painting!

The Roller doors went on, albeit with a number of issues.

one of the four doors was installed with a small section at the bottom to fix a level issue with the floor so he says. i don't understand if the floor is level which it is why does this door need so much help? now because of this 1 of the handles is higher, my OCD cannot handle this. also he left a big hole at the top where there should be a filler panel.

i used Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Concrete Patch and i need to sand some areas which is proving tough, i want to clean the patch without effecting the concrete.

hopefully I can finish the painting next weekend.

Thanks Ken, yes the best milestone will be when I can finally put the pallet racking in and move some stuff in. I was very happy to be able to leave some stuff there now though!

Shane, great build. I am trying to get my build up and going and it's taking forever and it's making me anxious. You are so close you must be coming out of your skin to to be at the point you can move your stuff into the shop. Again, it looks great!

Well I have been absent for a long time. Lots of this have happen at the garage but so has life and two kids and a business have stopped me from actively working on the shed, and i thought it was time for an update!

Loads of work has been going on in the diner. My carpenter has just about finished trimming all of the doors and windows. He has made very solid Jarrah door frames for the carriage doors and then made from scratch the two pairs of carriage doors.

The diner won't be fitted out until we build our house.

Here are some pictures.

Next jobs are:

Install glass in the windows and carriage doors
Install the HVAC
Wire all of the lights and power
Install the kitchen and commercial oven I just bought
Render walls
Install ceiling
Hang doors

We are still fighting the local authorities regarding our power supply, hopefully we have a resolution soon.

We still have the restroom to fit out also.

More pictures to follow.

Shane

Big Update today!

Finally things have been moving alone.

We have now dug the 200m (656ft) trench to the front for the power connection, had the walls plastered, the ceilings are in, the windows are finished hung and the doors are on!

We have just sold our house and moved our stuff into the garage, we have ordered a new 4 bedroom with ensuites 'donga' portable accommodation module to give ourselves a bit more room and we will be living in the garage whilst the new house is built, this will slow down a bit on the diner although we will be doing as much as possible so it will be usable.

here are some images. more to follow...

Well things have really started to progress.

As I might have stated before we are actually moving into our Shed and we have purchased a transportable 4 bedroom unit to sleep in and use the diner as living area while we build our new house we unexpectedly sold our other house so this has been the best solution for us.

We have had the bathroom tiled as well as the begining of the kitchen.

The 250,000l water tank is in. The 14.4metre transportable arrived by crane and we have all of the plumbing in ready to test today. The bathroom should be completed today except for the basin as we are still working on that.

more pics to come...

in the Corner of the bathroom there is an un tiled part on the wall that is the access panel for the urinal flush valve. We are going to be hanging a 1950's framed advertisement there, any ideas?

I think the bathroom looks great to suit the 50's rest room style. Finally also got my barn light hung.

The Diner is called Hotrod Harry's after my first son and the Gas Station will be called Jumping Jacks Gas after my second son, just need to work out the logo for Jumping Jacks and get some signage made!

Here you can see a panoramic image of in front of the garage and also the panic bolt fitted to my barn doors.

Here you can see the big tank with green lids, outside of the ground and in the ground that is our waste unit, this converts all liquid waste to water that will be distributed under grass. due to the fact we are near a lake we need to distribute this waste water over 370 sqm which is just short of 4000 sqft!!

We also recently purchased a new loader to help around the property!

Our first of the boys playgrounds are in, this is the little one :)

I have one HUGE bugbear in the diner and that is that the lintels above the windows were not installed correctly and after the plaster they still sit proud and are very obvious this makes me very mad and I am thinking the only way to hide them is to perhaps fit either a curtain rail over them with some coke curtains or perhaps run a rail around the Diner with some NEON lighting or something??
