That tan one is sharp as hell! The color combo, the shadow sign, the star, Perfect!

Would be cool to have a mural artist paint a faux vintage gas station front on that big blank canvas of the white barn. I always wanted to have that done somewhere around here.[emoji41]

Great idea on the display bump out and using the half cans.

Just finished restoration on another pump and got it on display just in time for our big annual party we throw each year. Party was Saturday night and we had about 100 people attend... our front yard looked like a car show as we had 19 hot rods in the front yard and all of the daily drivers parked in the back yard. The pumps in these pics are actually in front of out bar barn (another thread is devoted to it).

Just bought a new toy... this will become my Texaco shop truck! It is a little newer than I wanted but couldn't pass up the deal. It is a 1979 Ford F150 Lariat edition with a 460 big block and ONLY 16,000 documented miles. It did spend a fair share of its life outdoors but still in great shape and it runs and drives like new. Its first test was the drive home about 80 miles with not a single issue. Now for some Texaco signs on the doors (probably going to have Texaco logo magnets made instead of decals).

no its just an old truck, I won't be racing it..... :) lol no I don't race the Vega either... I "retired" from racing many years ago. I was racing so much that I got burned out on it, and it was no longer fun for me, so now I just drive it around town and to cruise-ins and car shows and enjoy it.

Sweet pumps!! I bought my 1st Tokheim 39 short last June, as incentive to get my cycle shop garage built. Doing that now. Then, last December I'm in the Chicago burbs for work and I just have a habit of checking craigslist when I travel. Found a seller with an ad-glass Tokheim 39 short, a Wayne, A Gilbarco, any of them for $400 each. Well the 2nd Tokheim 39 short came home with me. I'll one at each front corner of the shop garage.

Do you guys bolt them down to a mount? I'm thinking of setting long threaded rods into a concrete pad and bolting them in place that way.

As you might notice from my avatar, I'm of Dutch descent and one of my pumps will be done up Old Dutch brand. The other pump is a Rocket brand, which was a SE Wisconsin brand from the 40s and 50s. That one will stay natural pantina, cleaned up and clear satin coated.

I also use threaded rod into concrete. It works well, and if someone wants to steal a pump, they will have to work for it! y security camera's will alert me long before they can get a pump loose....

Yeah, that is in the plans too, to add a security camera system. Especially since I travel a lot for work yet and my wife is home every night. Maybe even a Ring system on the garage and on the door to the house on the driveway side.

Since we moved to our "retirement" property, I quickly put up all the Texaco stuff on the outside of the barn and put the inside collection inside my attached garage. The white Texaco barn was just used for storage ands was a general mess inside. Well since moving I have taken on another hobby (aside from Texaco collecting and hot rods)... woodworking! I have found I really enjoy it, except for the routine of pulling out all my tools and then cleaning up a big mess and putting everything back up afterwards... that takes a great part of the joy out of it so....this weekend I started clearing out the entire bottom floor of the barn. It is 16' wide by 24' long and I will be making it a permanent wood shop set up. Have a lot to do on it, insulation, more wiring, lights, interior walls and ceiling first. Then I can start building the miter saw station, outfeed table, cabinets, etc. I am looking forward to getting it going!

BIG CHANGES COMING!!!! A friend of mine owned a small repair shop in a former Texaco station and recently retired. At one point, we were talking about me buying his building (an original Walter Teague designed Texaco station) but alas the building was in such bad shape and a local developer with deep pockets bought the station to demolish it and build a new multi use building to include an underground parking garage, stores and luxury condos (he bought an entire city block). Well the developer is a local guy who likes history and community so he did two very cool things. He is naming the new building after my friend who owned and operated it for over 30 years. Then he allowed me to take anything and everything I wanted from the building before it gets demolished!! I have saved every single porcelain exterior panel off of the building!! I will be adding a new front to my existing barn and recreating the front of the station on my property. Can't wait to get started and posting up pics of progress....

Sweet! A nice gesture on his part but it woulda been cooler if he just kept it standing and incorporated it into his "development" somehow.
He coulda made it a sweet themed coffee shop or something for all the condos.
You could of sold him all your Texaco stuff for a million or so... :lol_hitti Why don't developers have have any cool vision anymore?

Thank You for at least saving what you could!(y)
