Bought a house in Omaha last November. Bucket list required a out building or garage. It has a double garage under the house for the wifes car and junk. A detached 3 car garage for me. Pretty plain garage but has great bones to work with. First thing was to get some heat in it so I can work in cold weather. I bought a used but in perfect condition 110,000 btu furnace. Cost me 100 buck and 35 bucks to convert to propane. Had a 3200 gal propane tank set behind it and hook it up. I have been a metal fabricator and welder all my life so building a plenum above the furnace cost me nothing. I ran some runs of duct work to heat the garage evenly. Even build a rack around the furnace to keep it in one piece if I back my truck in a little off kilter. First requirement met
I installed plenty of lighting and even had a warm day to paint some white on the block walls to lighten up the drab block. Its a temporary fix as I plan to install a ceiling and stud out the walls and insulate them. Probably take some time to get that done as the wife has projects in the house to do as well. Im 60 and getting slower in my old age. The purpose of the garage is to be my car shop for my toy, a 93 twin turbo Thunderbird. The garage has a makeshift work bench and some cabinets on the walls. I plan to rework all that as well. Lots of ideas floating on this forum. I am happy to have a work space that is all mine.
