Thanks, Don! The funny thing about the rain was that during the framing stage, the weather was perfect. Very few really hot days and no rainouts to speak of. So as soon as we want to close up the roof, it starts raining and I have a two week delay in getting my roofing sub onsite because I'm third in line. Then when he gets started, we can't get a full day of work in the first five days due to rain. He probably would have completed the job in four full days of work. He had pre-scheduled a vacation with his kids for last week, so that meant another delay in the middle of the job.
But you know, that's just the way it goes and I'm OK with it. It's all gonna be just fine.
The garage will eventually be the home for two Corvettes (a '64 fastback and an '01 targa coupe) that my wife and I own. It's my "retirement" garage. It'll get a 2 post lift, a compressor, and good workbench area so I more easily work on the cars.
We're moving to TN from the Dayton OH area to live near our daughter, son-in-law, and 2 year old grandson. We purchased the five acre parcel that we're building on almost two years ago. I'll be the GC for the home we'll build after the garage is done. All of this has been in the planning stage for about three years. I retired from NCR Corporation last December. My wife continues to work in Dayton (keeping the two of us with medical insurance) and will come down to TN for good when I get close to completing the house.
That's our story and I'm sticking to it.
Best of luck with your build! Hope you're having as much fun as I am.
