What kind of work do you do off-shore? How long are you home and how long are you away? I'm sure knowing your family is watched over by your parents is comforting.
Great shop, i am looking forward to seeing some projects.
I am a Marine Engineer on a Mobile Production Unit in the Gulf. I work a 28/28 Rotation, So home 28 and work 28. I have been doin it for 13 years now. Yes My Parent are across the street and they have been a blessing for the rough times. Thanks the Shop been the best project i have ever done. I do like a bit of a challenge but I love doing the layout and progression of the shop stuff. My time at work helps me figure out my design and ideas to make it the best. So it will be the most useful for sure. I finally got around to running some more outlets next to the shop doors. So I don't have to use as much extension cords. I got the mill and lathe kind of where i want them still unsure about the milling machines orientation may 45 it in the corner. Also the wife introduced me to Dirt cheap (amazon and other overstock inventory) and I picked up 2 72" celling fans For like $50 I got 1 up still got to mount the other. They basically look like a flea on a elephant in the shop but IDC

Found your thread a few days back and have been chugging though it since. Glad to see you're posting again !! That is seriously a sweet space and having the kiddos/family involved and out there is the cherry on top.

Since our shop has gone up and the office/kitchen has been finished we spend as much time out there on the weekends as a family as we do on the house. It's great, especially in the winter. The kiddos have an indoor place to ride bikes and draw with floor chalk and mess around.

Truly happy to read that little miss is doing great !! I've a close friend that had his daughter go through leukemia a few years back and it was hard to watch but oddly uplifting at the same time. No one wants kids to be sick but seeing how the community came together changed us all. Our circle of friends strengthened and we all made new friends. Best part is our kids saw each other enough that they consider themselves cousins now.

Random thoughts .....
The outdoor bathroom vent is a great idea .... Wish I'd have done that. I vented mine into the attic and put a drip pail under a loop I made for it to drip in if needed. It needs to be redone ..... Outside just may be the answer.

Is the loft going to be open to the shop or closed in ? If you said I may have missed it .....

28/28 schedule is intense but I bet it's nice to have a month back home when it happens !!!

The house/yard/shop layout and driveways turned out really nice. Really nice !!

Has the infloor heat been hooked up ? You don't have near the pipes in the floor as I do but I'd imagine it's warmer in TN than Central MN.

Following along for more !!!

Yea I have been also waiting on Materials to come down in prices too
Shelby has been our light for sure. My son William has been an amazing big brother too. He takes very good care of his sister and they play really well together too.

The sewer vent was kind of a after thought. I didn't have a idea at first but, I also didn't want to poke a hole in my roof either.

the loft is going to be open to the shop. My original plan was to build my gym and parts storage. However its gonna be so big. I plan on putting a TV on the back wall and making it like a lounge for the kids to play in and possibly a slide.

its slowly coming together for sure

The heated floor is not done yet still got to buy a boiler. I don't know if it will be enough heat or not but, if it knocks the chill off I will be fine with that.

So the Big cold snap that Came across America. The temp got down to 6 degrees outside I was running my kerosene bullet heater. I kept it indie the shop at About 60 degrees. At 3 am I went to the house it was 6 degrees. At 9 am I got up and the temp was 0 degrees by the time i got back in the shop around 3 pm it was 40ish degrees in the shop with no heat on for 12 hours. I didn't think that was too bad.
So then i worked on the hall way ceiling and lighting.

Got the Kitchen ceiling up. Which maybe ending up being the Wife's new craft room eventually.

Just found this thread and went thru it all. I love everything about your build and your family. Blessings to you from Michigan!
Thank you I appreciate it. It has been a bit more difficult than I had anticipated. Shelby is in Dance and cheerleading and William is in Boy scouts and Ninja warrior as well as both are in school. Most of the time I work on the shop after they go to bed between 9:30pm to 2-3am So I can spend the most time with them. That being said the shop is a complete Wreck lol

Looks like some fun projects in there!
I am a Multi Project kind of guy lol
I ordered a 2 post lift (15k) in January of 2022 and still not received it Maybe this year. A coworker Gave me this 4 post lift that was built in the 80s It needs cleaning and new cables. My wife works at a Hospital and they are going digital so all these shelves were discarded so i bought 14 of them my plan is to used most of them on the mezzanine. Also the wife has been on my case since we built about a pool and with all the Disney Wokeness going on this will be out future vacation for many years. This kind of the layout I am shooting for.

Can't knock a free lift. I have one sort of like that i use for storing 2 cars. I like your plan and agree with the vacationing at home idea.
Nope, My plan is use it as a storage lift and get my 68 mustang off my carport at the house. Here is the hole dug out and the kids are reference as to how deep it is and the pool chilling in the front yard.

Wow. I love the shop I only wish to have something that size but here in the UK we don't get that chance. I wish your daughter well I know what she's going though I have had cancer for the last 2 years but am in remission now. I don't know how but kids seem to just get on with being sick without complaining too much hopefully she is bouncing back and 2023 will be a better year for her. Keep the updates coming

Thank You, Why does the UK now allow garages that big? Shelby has been a true blessing I don't know if its the 2nd child syndrome but she is fearless and doesn't let anything ruin her mood or day. She has a 1 year checkup in Feb so fingers crossed. Glad to hear you beat it as well I will defiantly say my prayers for you as well Friend. With It getting dark @ 5pm the flood lights have been handy got to add some more though. My dad said i look like a gas Station. One of my wife's coworkers was getting rid of her hot tub. So to load it with no equipment I finally installed my winch on my aluminum car hauler. My mustang has to live on the edge of the carport till i get the 4 post lift up in the shop and hopefully the hot tub will migrated closer to the pool this summer.

Space is at something of a premium in the UK. There’s no legal reason you can’t have a garage that big, but property prices mean it’s not an option available to many.
Its same around here too Prices are insane. My Biggest life mistake is not building my house when I was 8 :LOL:

The pool is in and wife said " what are we going to do with all the dirt?" I said Shop back pad For the future

It’s getting to be nearly impossible here unless you can inherit something or, like you did, build something on family owned land. That being said, we are in the process of relocating to a new place that will include a 100x40 barn which will become my garage and workshop - the similarity in size is what drew me to your thread! I’ll start my own thread once we are in and I make a start!

Now the last time to have a bare corner before the lift.
This lift is freaking heavy as well. It made my shop look smaller. Cables were 1 foot short. Called Eagle and they said everyone who ordered a 15k lift said the cables were a foot short. They sent me new cables. got them on and dad had to be the 1st one to use it to sharpen the lawnmower blades. put my truck on it and noticed it wouldn't go all the way to the top called and discussed about the reservoir being to small. turns out they sent me the wrong pump and reservoir so they are sending me a new one

I have waited since covid lumber prices went up to drop. I finally bought the Insulation and lumber for my Mezzanine I was no even going to attempt to pay $50 a sheet for 3/4 OSB. So prices finally came down and I ended up paying $21.50 a Sheet

Concrete Got poured while I was out of town. The concrete crew did not listen on how I wanted my drains done on the one end so they will be redoing it later. But overall it turned out amazing 40x78pad
