Little bit of a back story. I'm 26 and have owned my own landscaping business for the last 4 years. I moved into this house about 7 years ago and initially started renting it. About two years later I decided to buy it. It's been paid off for the last year and a half. When I purchased the house it came with this little shed that the previous owner built.
To me it was just an eyesore and a place where my junk could pile up and the rats could live. Never really made it to anything more in my mind.
I am a car enthusiast and have been since I was 17. Since that time I have NEVER had anywhere that I could work on my vehicles at. It was either in the dirt or the driveway. Everything from engine swaps to painting vehicles was done right there (No kidding lol).
Got a couple of estimates in the $24.00 per sq ft area (unfinished inside). Which is cheap but no one wanted to give me the storage space I wanted in the attic. Everyone wanted to stick build it. So I decided to get the best carpenter I know and go to town. We're going to be putting attic trusses on it that have a 8 foot wide by 5 foot high opening in the center to allow for storage space. Attic storage in the new build was VERY important because I have none in the house.
I got the urge to build a garage in my back yard about two years ago although I always wanted one. Today starts the first build day of the 24x26.
The car that's going in it......
1989 Mustang Coupe. 383 stroker with a turbo.
First day...... Got a towing company to haul off the old shed. 50.00 and I'm not confident he even made it a mile with that raggedy thing. It had no skids and was not made to be moved. We had to push him to even attempt to load it.
Had to remove the 6x6 to get it out. Still only 2'' on each side.
Some leveling being done with the tractor. The garage portion (26ft) slopes about 12'' in 26 feet. Were not going to worry about back filling and compacting and just pour the slab thicker in those areas.
Batter Boxes and form going up.
