Yeah, I've seen the plugs, but if you look at some of the pics in post 78 there's really no room in the half inch ply.
I hadn't tried the half inch material yet either, that's how I learned to make sure the screws are angled in towards the larger part of the wood to,prevent the split out.

I did a quick look for the edge band clamps for you but the preliminary search didn't bring anything up. I dig a little harder here later today.

I don't think you need them, unless you want to practice for finished cabinetry. The exposed screw holes look good. Especially for a shop cabinet where I prefer to see how everything works.

Yeah that end grain split out you got is perpetuated by the actual Kreg Jig setup for 1/2" ply too, because the screw doesn't exit the board in the middle of the thickness like it's intended to. You may have been able to pull that off with thicker stock.

I'm doing drawers right now as well with 1/2" Baltic birch but am doing false fronts so I'm able to hide my holes on the outside.

Man, those look great. I thought about doing false fronts but I don't have a source on half inch oak and didn't want to take the time to plane down 3/4s at my parents. I'm gonna hop over and check out your thread!

The way you have it looks good man. Mine are for a closet organizer in our bedroom and I had to do what the wife wanted. :)

So the edge banding went a lot quicker than I thoughtand I'm happy with about 75% of it and will have to tolerate the rest. Again, a learning process. Sharp edges, minimize chip out, sanding edges rarely keeps things strait or square no matter how good you think you are...

Things went quicker than I thought with the edging because, duh, I could do the short sides at the same time cause they only used two clamps a side instead of the five I had to use on the long sides. Nice!

I also cut the bottoms of the drawers out of 4' x 4' piece of 1/2" plywood I lucked into for free at HD. Customer paid for a whole sheet but only wanted to take half. Works for me!

Anyway, I don't have pics cause my phone was full.

I decided on the fly that I would have the the front of the drawer bottom meet up flush to the drawer front so I wouldn't have to wait till I cut the groove in them.

Here they are roughed in (basically sitting) where they will go. I know the ladder blocks the view a bit, but still good enough to get the idea. The great news is they are wide enough and tall enough that I'll be able to tailor in the gaps. A nice change from the small drawer who look like crooked teeth! Lol

I bought 10 pair of pro ark brand (?) 100 pound full extension drawer slides off amazon which aren't due here till possibly 5 days from now (doubt it will take that long) once those get here, I can begin to fit things up. I'm excited. It's starting look and become functional. I also agreed to let my wife pick out the pulls, so we'll see how that goes. She does have pretty good taste, and besides, I think I'm only gonna let her choose from lee valley. Until all this happens, I think I'll focus on getting one if not both of the overhead cabs put up.

Amazing work. I am completely self taught when it comes to carpentry but hanging out here on GJ has been a big help and has provided much insight. I'm inspired by your wood working, both by your vision for some great storage and handiwork being so well executed.

I bought 10 pair of drawer slides off amazon which are due any day. But I have 11 drawers, so I went to HD and paid $13 for the 11th pair. Nice weather out so I opened the door and got to it. X

Here is the top drawer on the right side, fit up. (After some judicious planeing) The "smile"/dip strikes again. Luckily the drawers below it can remain square(er). I guess I really burnt the end grain with the belt sander dialing them in.

You can really see the dip in the last picture. I thought about trying to jack it up from underneath to try to manhandle the dip out of it, but anything I would be pushing against would probably just bow the other way. Plus all those small drawers are dadoed and glued. It would take a lot to rack that into shape.

I hipped the Supervisor to popcorn at the hardware store. Now he throws a fit every time we drive by and don't go in! We stopped in today for the screws for the drawer slides. I'd be happy if they show up tomorrow!

Looks good. The lining up part is the reason I like to make false fronts. Then you can install the drawers and then put the fronts on and adjust them as you need to make them fit. I use a credit card in between drawers for the gap measurement.

False fronts. Hind sight IS 20/20! I chose not to do false fronts because I wanted to max the space in the drawer. Probably a moot point. Maybe when I re-do the drawers with better wood...

I've been playing with the idea of using a GoPro on the wall to document the process of doing the '36. Here are the two angles I thought about using.

Head on in the middle of the garage good for front end work and the engine swap.

My MIL won it at work in a drawing and I snatched it right up!!! I bought a harness and strapped to the supervisor for a trip around the block. Fun stuff.
You can control it from a phone app. Click the button when ever you want a pic. I almost want two now. One fixed on the wall and one for close up stuff. We'll see!

After driving to both big boxes, an Andersons and Woodcrafters (sorry Menards) it came down to two different pulls, mainly cause I didn't want to have to wait on lee valley. After conversing with the wife, I think we (hahaha) settled on this one. We like the squareness aspect to it.

I like the contrast, the stain really makes the grain in the wood stand out in the photos.

Dark furniture can make spaces seem smaller than they are, but in a shop has the advantage of hiding grubby finger prints... You've probably covered the latter with the dark stain on the drawer fronts.

Thanks for the compliment. Flips lops weren't my smartest moment. Definitely not the norm though.
