Doors are built and sanded. Ended up using 3/8" premium pine plywood for the panels in them. Still trying to figure out how I want to finish them....stain or paint.

Or maybe even just coat them with some polyurethane and paint the frame of the bench red to go with the bolt bins and my hoist is also red??

Started working on this tonight....seems the fellow who I bought it from forgot to give me the hardware box that goes with it....Will have to call him tomorrow and see if he still has it. (the hoist was bought brand new in 08 and never installed) Then I bought it off him before I started building the shop.

Started assembling the hoist tonight. Got it layed out on the floor and got the top brace assembled. Got the cables run and the arms mounted. Waiting to hear from Snap On for the missing pieces I need as I cannot seem to get a hold of the fellow I bought the hoist from.

Awesome build. Curious what type of auto tech you are. Seems like you make a good living!

I've worked for the same Ford Dealership since I was in high school. Been a Journeyman for the last 5 years. I've been at it a total of 10 years this July. I'm 27, on my 3rd house now, bought the first one when I was 19 with my at the time girlfriend. Made good money on the previous ones when I sold and now have a nice house on a acre of land. We have been married for the last 3 years and had our first child in November. Guess I'm doing OK for myself.

Here is where it is at....thinking of leaving the framework bare wood.

20150227_004638_zpsxedvsihq.jpg

What about painting the framework red to compliment the other red components?

Nice looking garage....living in Terrace is definitely for the 'hunting, shooting, fishing' crowd.

Thought about that...might when I find some time to pull the doors back off to do it. Its hard enough to find time to sneak out to the shop as it is with a newborn heh.

You from around the area zapper?

Excellent idea with the overhang to cover the RV, I may need to copy that for my build, haha.

....don't understand why did you want the RV trailer out in the weather other than a roof over it; by adding one back wall and another door and moving that wall out, you'd have a much larger building. You could always partition off the RV inside if you wanted.
If that were mine I'd be enclosing the open walls around the RV.

Coulda woulda shoulda. Pretty sweet just how it is.

Also, being another who lives in a somewhat wet climate (chuckle) I can tell you, the best thing you can do for an rv is keep it covered in an open sided structure so it gets good air circulation. Close it up and mould and mildew will set in fast.

Yup...its main purpose is to keep the snow off it in the winter. Also being out of the sun all year helps with fading and cracking of sealants and what not.

Nothing says down the road I can close it in if I feel the need

Not quite...I used to live/work in Chetwynd and then moved over to Grande Prairie during the early days of the oil & gas boom. I'm down in the Okanagan now...

Well.....I took your guys advise.....painted the frame work for the bench to match my hoist and bolt bins. Used Tremclad Regal Red. Got one coat done tonight....one more tomorrow then it can go back together. Now my upper cabinets bother me.....Contemplating painting the doors grey with red handles.....where does it end? Hah

Friend of mine built a shop with an open side bay for his boats and a trailer. A few years later he converted the bay into a wash rack and paint room. Not that you would do it but the flexability is nice to have.

I am hoping to have the hoist up and running tomorrow as long as few parts that were missing show up. Got it all anchored down today. Then it is onto organizing and getting stuff in it rightful places.

I have a 95 Wrangler that is on Tons and 39.5 Pitbull Rockers. It has been sitting outside under half a tarp for a month. It makes me sad that its not inside.

Oh come on it doesn’t rain here in BC... just sunshine all the time...lol...

Great build... The exact same size as what I'm hoping to start building this summer... I was wondering about the windows too but you made a good point why put them in if you don't use them...
How much lift in your sportrac... I have about 6" in my 02 ex...
keep the pictures coming...

Cheers...R...

I put windows up high. It's nice to see a little bit of outside but still keep people from looking in. Also nice to open them for ventilation and keep the the bugs and critters out. Leaving the door open seems to be an invitation around here.

Update!

Have now done the concrete approach to mate the asphalt driveway to the shop.

https://scontent-sjc.**.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11036755_10155604372620144_7847920655091843862_n.jpg?oh=a283b0a7d064dd49bf8b86c02d07f37a&oe=55DA3362

Base prepped, forms up and rebar being laid out.

Came home after work today to this

Also my lift of Hardieplank siding has come in so I can get the outside wrapped up now too.
