Since nobody else in here has made the offer I guess I will, to help you clean up your garage I will come and get that car you have in the middle of the floor. That way you can more space to put your stuff as you work on fixing up your garage.
:D

Tring to find a drip pan for my snowblower.
Don't want to make a mess all over my new floor next winter.
Found this one, but I don't really need 3 of them.
They are the right size thought, 24" x 37".

Hey Paul great job on the window. A slider is just the thing, especially if you reach over something to open a window. I did that for our kitchen, putting one over the sink.
That clock is a real upscale touch! I am liking that industrial age look it has. Don't mess up and go and make your shop so pretty you can't do anything in it! Just kidding. Great job and keep us posted.

Thanks guy's.
The differance in the garage temp just from replacing the window is huge.
Bought some insulation today, Just enough to do that wall.

Messing around on the net trying to find a suitable mini refrig for the garage.
Found this one and really like the nostalgic look to it.
Not sure if it's too nice for a working garage.

Very cool. I had found one that looked like a tool box (posted it in my thread) but the price was a little out of my budget. Another member on here was looking at one that was made to look like a Marshall speaker.

I saw that, very cool. Your right though, $400 I don't need it that bad.
The Nostalgia Electric one is about $160. I can justify that much.

Nice plans and nice execution. I'll be watching!

Have you thought about some pinstripin or flames on that clock. Then you can get some on the new 'fridge to match!

Looks like your next project may be a new roof? The window makes a big difference in the looks of the garage. Keep up the good work.

JC23 - Pinstriping on the refrig is a great idea. I will have to keep that in mind.

Dubber- It is quite a dramatic differance. I'm not used to having that much light.
I've never had to think about it before but the sun comes straight in that window at the end of the day. So, I went and bought a blind for it today.

Been working a lot lately, but I got a chance to get out to the garage and did some more insulating today.
My 2nd workbench came in today too.
It's killing me to have these great workbenchs and cabinet just sitting around.
I can't wait for the POD to come so I can just move everything into it and have lots of room to work. 2-1/2 more weeks to the POD.

Thanks Homebody.

Awesome weather today so out to the garage, open the door, open my new window and get some work done. Cleaned out all the old scrap wood I have left over from previous projects around the house. I have a hard time throwing this stuff out. This is actually the 3rd pile to go to the dump.

Junkwood_zpsa4b736c3.jpg

I also removed all the compressor plumbing from the wall.

I want to redo it so I can have a seperate outlet for the blast cabinet.

You're making progress and following the plan; keep it up!

How old is the garage? The reason I asked is because in one pic showing one of the beams, it looked like the ceiling had some water damage in the past. What's the condition of your roof; hope it's not as bad as your neighbors. lol Speaking of the neighbor's roof, it made me think your garage is built on quite an up-slope to be looking down on his roof. Your insulation work is going to pay big dividends come winter; any idea how much (if any) insulation you have in the overhead? The POD is a great idea for storage, and a great motivator (@ $400/mo.) to get the garage done and move things back in. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress; looks to be a great transformation!

Thanks Omphaloskeptic,
Most of my house is from the 40's & 50's.
The main foundation is the original barn from the original farm in our whole area.
Later on as they sold off the rest of the property they converted the barn into their main home. My main foundation walls are actually stone walls.
Where you see water stains used to be the roof of the garage, about 40 years ago it was converted into a small apartment that we rent out.
My neighbors garage is the same level as my basement, which is ground level on that side. My garage is ground level at the front of my house.
This forum has made it a lot more fun and I have gotton a ton of useful info from other members.

I pulled the trigger on a Griots Garage retractable air hose reel today.
I have been hand cranking on this one for sooo long it will be nice to have a retractable one. I will keep the extra 100' of hose just so I can reach any part of the house for my future projects.
Here is the old one.

Wow, another garage with barn 'roots'; very cool. If you have a chance, take some outside shots of the entire structure; sounds impressive.

Nice looking hose reel, by the way. Let us know how it performs.

Another sweet acquisition. I don't know how you do it, your very good with planning and acquiring an item before it is needed and letting it stay in the box until that stage comes to play. Much respect!

Omphaloskeptic - You could never tell it was a barn from the outside, just a regular looking house. We redid out kitchen a few years back and while gutting it found that one of the 2x4 (house was made when 2x4 were actually 2" by 4") was a fence post.
With the 3 holes and everything. It has been an experience.

Dubber -I learned that skill by planning out my Camaro. Aquiring parts over a period of time because a lot of the stuff I wanted to use was expensive and it took me a while get everything I wanted. Plus I had to tear the whole car apart, redo everything and then put it back together. Lots of fun though.
I do go into the basement and visit my parts every once and awhile. My wife catches me sometimes and just shakes her head. Oh well, very soon.

I want to replace my compressors galvanized lines for something nicer, maybe aluminum.

DSC00298_zps153724be.jpg

Have looked at a couple of companies.
Most of the companies seem to have nice stuff but not crazy about the color though. Baby blue :yikes:
I will have to keep checking.

The wood is actually going to be gone. I'm going to mount it directly to the wall.
I agree with saceone, I do like the industrial look. I think I'm going to try and hide it behind the cabinets though. I rather not see it at all.

Emptied the garage into the POD today. Took longer then I thought it would.
Lots of junk to go through once the garage is ready.

PodAfter_zps12ce77bb.jpg

Now the empty garage.

Empty3_zpsdc6909fc.jpg

As you can see the garage door does not open all the way.
Pipes for the upstairs apartment are in the way. Plumber is coming next week hopefully to move them.
