so its a "to be continued.........." situation 
Ok, I had forgotten how much work spackling and sanding is, especially when your a pretty bad spackler. The sanding started today and I have to say that the spackling I did the last day was MUCH better than the spackling I did the first day. Had to get in my groove. I think I will be sanding for the next 2 days. A lot of wet weather the past 4 days and it's taking forever to dry. Had a heater in the garage last night just to speed things along. It will be awesome when it's finished though.

Got more sanding done today, still more to go though.
Starting to see the end I hope, so I bought myself a present today.
A nice big Craftsman storage cabinet. It's 36" x 78" and the doors even have racks for spray cans.
It was $123 off so I could not pass it up.

Very nice cabinet, can't wait to see it set up. That door design is very smart. U have a pic of the outside or am i gonna have to wait until your garage is done

Getting close to putting things back in the garage so I'm on the hunt for a retractable electric cord reel. My Craftsman one crapped out a few years ago.
The retractable part, weak spring I guess. It seems to be a common fault with most of them over time. So I think I would like to buy a good one and not have to worry about it again. Here are a few ones I have found for around $100. Leaning towards the blue one(which of course I will paint black). I like it because it had a mess of great reviews, plus a metal case.

The insulation and furring looks great. Everything is coming right along. The sheet rock is fantastic. You did a real good job.

Great job Paul.. I just checked out your thread and it's amazing how when we start working on a project we end up saying "while I'm in there"..and just doing the rest. I really like the way it's turning out.
The POD idea was a great idea. I'm going to have to just put some stuff on the side of the house with a tarp over it.
As for the 2x4's.. all I can say is, they don't make them like they used too! Your garage project is looking really good.
I'll be watching for updates.

It's looking very good. Just spent an hour getting caught up from the beginning. Looking good and giving me hope that my garage will get done. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next updates!

It's been a lot of hard work but I'm having fun doing it. I just keep checking out that picture I have of the finished garage in my head. Getting closer everyday.
Bought the paint today. Got Home Depot to match the grey on the Craftsman cabinets for the lower section of the garage. Than a red and black stripe across the middle of the wall and white for the rest of the wall and ceiling. Also found stainless steel outlet covers. Everything has a second coat of primer and we are ready for paint.

Very nice. Funny enough I have also selected a white with a black/red/grey stripe. So we will have some of the same basic colors. Looking foward to seeing how your garage looks after the paint.

Maybe a lil to late, but for anyone reading this and doing their "muddin". I am not OCD clean like Rick, but I am OCD about my muddin. After everything is done, I thin the heck out of the mud and then roller it on. Some call it texterizing, I call it hiding the tape lines the right way.

I just realized you provided another good idea that I missed when I first looked at it. I was wondering how my garage would look with some of the colors I picked out. I'm going to get a large piece of cardboard and paint it with the colors I'm thinking and stick it up on the wall in the garage.

Dubber - To tell you the truth, I can't wait to paint the rails. It will make a huge differance. I was hooked at hello!!!!!

Mine came white powdercoated, free. So I had to, couldn't help myself.

Lucky for you.. My issue is I put some grease in the rails to help quiet it down..so I gotta clean ALL of that out before I paint them.
If I'm going to do this, I might was well order up the plastic/nylon wheels for the garage doors too. You guys are a bad influence.
