Re: My garage, repurposed!

I found something out I don't know why or if totally true but I bought rustoleum red (forgot name) at like HD and Lowe's didn't have it and vesa verse. I think that HD and Lowes have same color under different paint names. I know they do that with the Lincoln 140 welder I got. Same welder 3 different names for HD, Lowe's and other. I say if you buy a paint at certain store for your projects than go to that same store for more. At least that's what I seen. Try it and see if its that same by you.

Have a good one, Gerard

So true Gerard. I think this is pretty much the case for a lot of products. Like these wheelbarrows. I bought the yellow/black one from Lowes. My brother bought the red/gray one from HD. Exact same wheelbarrow just different colors.

Re: My garage, repurposed!

Picked up a new chest yesterday. Made in USA Homak over 17 years old from Costco. The guy said he took great care of it and it shows. Drawers have nice dividers built in and came with liners. The metal is way thicker than newer stuff as well. The bottoms of the drawers don't flex like my craftsman chest does. I'm happy, guy was asking 50 and accepted an offer of 40.

Re: My garage, repurposed!

I used to travel for a living, and I have picked up a lot of free or real cheap stuff for me garage, but I think you have me beat. I only wish you were closer to the Yakima Valley, I would have a new garage buddy. As to screwing any thing to the walls of a rental house, Don't. In Washington state any thing that is attached to the building becomes part of the building. Use French cleats. If your land lord got a hair up his ****, he could legally make you leave any thing attached to the building. Love what you have done to your garage.
If you are ever going to be coming through Yakima P.M me and I will meet you for a Pepsi. Richie

I also got my new HF jack attached to my utility trailer today. It came with a foot pad but I ordered a wheel off amazon for it so I could easily roll it in and out of the garage to have space for a project.

Also, the new bag frame and blade came in for the free lawn mower I got a few weeks back. I also picked up a new spark plug and air filter for it. Put all that together and mowed the front yard. Runs like a champ and mows better because it was free! [emoji6]

Thanks for the heads up Richard. I'll keep that in mind. The company i work for is on talks of expanding east so if i get out that way I'll look you up. A buddy at work raves about some burger place in Yakima i believe. Gotta try it out some day.

Miner's has been family owned and operated for many years. A big miner burger and fries is more than most people can eat. Most high school teams stop there. Good food, but not cheap. There is another place here that will give them a run for their money and it is named major's. Rich

Re: My garage, repurposed!

Been a busy couple weeks. I got promoted to Service Manager at work so I've been putting in more hours. I picked up this craftsman bottom roller last week off CL to go with the homak I got a few weeks back. More tool storage!
uploadfromtaptalk1402792144626.jpg

Working on my utility trailer now. Going to touch up all the paint. I also picked up a delta diamond plate box for the tongue and went to lowe's today and got all new stainless hardware to mount the box and jack from HF. Here's some pics of it sitting in place. Got the box brand new never been used with keys on craigslist for $100. i want to replace the rusty chains as well. All in due time.

Re: My garage, repurposed!

Wife and girls made me a picture frame for my new office for Father's Day. I'm loving it. Lifetime warranty on those Husky wrenches? The Wife picked 9 mm and 11 mm because those are our girls' birthday months. I like their style!

Wow... it's been a busy few weeks and I've been missing garage journal. I finally got some garage time today and mounted the new shop vac I bought some 6 months ago. I wanted the wall mount feature, but thought this would be better and functional. I can roll the cabinet in the driveway and reach even farther. This vac is awesome. Great power with 20+ ft. of hose attached.

uploadfromtaptalk1404609047076.jpguploadfromtaptalk1404609053227.jpguploadfromtaptalk1404609059721.jpg

I still have some finishing to do on the rolling cabinet. I want to do one more coat of paint on the drawer fronts. Need to install all the hardware also.

I'm thinking about storing amy automotive accessories in the cabinet. Stuff like:

-Garden hose nozzles and attachments for washing
-Wipes
-Cleaners
-Towels
-Wash mitts
-Oil filters
-Oil
-Air filters
-Tune up misc
-hitch receivers

We'll see. [emoji482]

Very nice. I like the vac. I have 2 already but I like the size and hose length of that. That size would fit between my 2 I already have.

Thabks Gerard. It's also got a wireless on/off switch which is a great feature! It comes off the mount also and can be used as a regular type vac.

Re: My garage, repurposed!

Sold a couple things on Craigslist this morning. Also traded something for this old vise. Littlestown is the name. Not sure how old it is but thought it was pretty sweet. It's in great operation. Anyone have any cool info about them?

Neat old vice, i've got a big one I won at a CB Jamboree back
about 1970. Being in high school I sold it to my dad for $25,
I got it back after he died in 1994.
Got it cleaned up and repainted last year, but It's still sitting under
my work bench as I don't have a good place to put it in my tiny shop :(

That's awesome, glad to hear you got it back! The guy also had another huge vise he wanted to trade but I didn't really need anything that big. This can replace the cheapo westward China vise I had from work.

Wow, thanks so much. Huge compliment! I really have enjoyed what I've done. I can't keep up though so my posts have slowed a little. Work is busy, a wife and two young daughters keep me even busier! I have been super lucky with the things I've found though. I have completely transformed my entire garage all with stuff I've acquired free. It's been great!

Thanks again!

Excellent work all around. I have been able to find some decent deals on craigslist but they pale in comparison to what you are doing. Your success is proof that a garage can be well outfitted for next to nothing with persistence. Keep up the good work!
