I really like that. I've been looking at "industrial"-themed furniture and so much of it is built around pipe and pipe fittings. That's not the look I'm after. I could go for your table, though!
I can't believe that you saw that diamond in there. I would never have thought to use a piece like that and it would have ended up in the scrap. Awesome job!
They are not perfect but the piece is rough enough that you don't notice unless you look very closely. I drew it out on acad first to get the measurements and rivet spacing.
The brooder unbolted into 4 wedge shaped sections. I laid it out to see how large I could make it, and cut the pieces down with a metal shear. The center piece was a rectangle cut from another piece of metal. The pieces overlap each other, so I didn't have to 'gap it' perfectly which made it much easier to fit together. It is mounted to 3/4" plywood underneath which is sitting on 2X4's on end. Then I just pre-drilled the holes and pounded in the rivets.
