I have one of these 13" Delta units- works well and often available on the used market for reasonable money ~$450.
Lot's of heavy rigid cast iron. Eats anything I feed it.

There are two of these that just popped up on market place, each one they are asking $500. I just worry about the wear and tear on them and finding replaceable parts?

The old Delta stuff has a following. There are purveyors of parts out there. The power feed is a gearbox, not a belt driven affair. If it works well today, it will likely keep working.

You will find many Delta jointer planers on MP too. Seems all the old cast iron stuff appears there regularly. All my stuff is old Delta. Unisaw, Thickness planer, jointer/planer, shaper, belt/disc sander, bandsaw. I bought the Unisaw new around 1990. It's my newest piece. The shaper was built in 1951. Jointer/planer built in 1943.

The little 13/15" deltas (actually made by invicta) are a nice upgrade from the lunchbox planers. Heavy enough to do a bit of work but light enough to move around on casters. They are the origin of all the 15/20" import 4 post planers that proliferate the market. They certainly have their share of shortcomings but for the price are good machines.

Lots of options on the used market depending on space availability and needs.

Edit to add, bigger is usually (or can be) cheaper. Lots of industrial 24" machines for less than the price of a new 15" 4 post.

This was 1/2 the price of a new 735.

I have seen some of those on market place for about $500-$700 dollars. I just don’t think I have room for those in my garage. I think I am going to hold out until Christmas and see if there are any deals on the Dewault 735.
