My material was delivered on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. The crew was supposed to start but rain hampered them even coming onsite. My new start date was to be Friday the 10th.

The crew called me on Thursday, the site where they were scheduled to be working was too wet. They started at approxiamately 10 AM and waited until 11:30 AM for the inspector. The crew of 4 left the first day at 4:00 PM.

Friday morning at 8:30 AM 2 of the guys from the previous day showed up to finish the building. At 2:00 PM, they left and were done.

Concrete should be done in the next week or so, until then I will piddle with shutters, painting the door (yes, she is making me), I may even take the garage doors back down and paint them (hoping she doesn't make me do that), mounting the meter can and perhaps the garage door openers.

I was amazed at how much these guys got done and how fast it was done. I have been over the building, the only thing wrong I have found is my cupola was not delivered (once again, she made me do it). In the next week before the inspector from Pioneer comes out, I will thoroughly go over the building several times. The building was done by Pioneer Pole Buildings out of Pennsylvania.

Below is a link where I will be posting all of my pictures. I will post more when I do more work to the building. Thanks for taking a look.

That did go fast! That's gonna be nice when you're done. You don't have to answer, but how much did it run you?

The building is 30' x 40' x 10'6", 2 - 9' x 8' doors, 1 personnel door, 4 windows and a cupola. The price on the building was roughly $14,000, this does not include concrete. A friend of mine has a concrete business and that will be done in a few weeks. I am an electrician, so I will handle all of the electrical.

Don't forget to add in your permits, site work, etc... I have well over $500 in permits because I went bigger than the allowed size in my town. I had to pay for advertising and have a board of appeals meeting.

Like everything else in life, the extras are going to cost ya.

Wow, two days, that is impressive. It already looks good and I'm sure it will look even better when you put the finishing touches on it.

OK, let me get this straight.

The building is complete but the concrete work hasn't been done?

How'd you do that? Since the foundation comes first.

It's a pole barn. Pole barns don't use concrete foundations, the poles are the foundation. The concrete is just for the floor.

I love it. Instant gratification! I'd love to have built something like this, but not only would it not pass muster with the inspectors/officials/historic commission in my quaint little University town, it definitely wouldn't pass with the inspector I sleep with. It's been painful writing checks for useless cosmetics that could've gone to tools and equipment.
Hat's off on the great progress.

I sat down with a pad and pencil, it actually took them 34 man hours to complete it.

A few updates, the floor has been poured, waiting on the apron to be poured. I have started a few things inside, hopefully, I will get the ceiling scabbed out so I can start wiring and insulating. I may have to take a break from working on it to actually get a few projects done first. I will try to post a few pics when I get a chance.

I am currently in the process of scabbing out the ceiling. I am adding 2x6's on 2' centers. I will then insulate it and cover it with OSB. A bit of white paint and hang my lights on it. A bit of pre-planning needs to be used here. I am making sure my lights will all land on a full run of 2x6's. I will try and get some pics when I make a bit more progress.

The guys that built it are all from the Lancaster area in Pennsylvania. The company was Pioneer Pole Buildings. I would definitely reccomend them to anyone.

Just a small update. The concrete inside the building was completed on 11-25, the pad for the front was poured today. I have been really busy so I have not got to spend much time inside doing much of anything. I will try and post some pics tomorrow.

The building was put up by Pioneer Pole Buildings. They are located in Schuykill Haven, PA. They were really good to work with. Everything they said they would do, they did and in the time they said that they would do it.

Here's a pic of my 30x36 pole building in Mi. The floor was the last thing done to the building. Seemed a little strange at the time but it actually makes sense. they did'nt have to worry about rain or hot sun during the pour. The inside is still a work in progress.
