My new detached garage

Hello all, we moved and bought a house on a double lot a few years back. It had an existing 20'x40' concrete slab that functioned as an RV parking spot for previous owners. I had schemes of building a nice garage, then I bought my "dream car". 1969 Mustang fastback in pretty rough shape. I tore it down and of course found even more than I had expected, so it went on hold while I decided what to do.

Fast forward 2 years, and after realizing I need a ton of space to do what I want with the car I finally bit the bullet and bought a 19'x38' steel building with 9' walls. The slab is not in the best of shape so I had to have a PE do some calculations and he said it's good enough. Pony'd up for insulation and plan to run AC in the not too distant future . In a couple weeks I have an electrician running a 100A subpanel with 230V service. I plan to run all the wiring for lights/receptacles etc, and eventually plumb an air compressor.

And of course the car

Hi
That's a nice looking garage you've put up, I'm sure it'll be plenty big enough for the Mustang resto. pictures please.
In the early 90's I had a '69 302 Boss fastback that I sold to an American working over here who was going to take it home with him when his contract finished.
Good luck with it.
Regards
Steve

Well, the garage door is up but the pad has a peak where two of the sections meet. My plan is to just get a diamond grinding cup and knock the center down unless there are any better suggestions

Looks like a lot of grinding, maybe half the slab depth to get it level across?

Might consider filling the sides to appropriate depth instead. Some self leveling concrete, a decent day and no dust!

Great project car! Have fun!

I had a similar problem on my door. I added treated wood spacers to the gap and then used the same weather strip that is used to seal the top & sides of the door to the bottom, sealed it up nicely.

Rented the trencher for the electrical conduit. While I was at it I decided to bury all my downspout drains to help with some erosion problems due to the heavy rains. Hard day of work but most of the heavy labor is done.

I think attaching tapered material to the bottom door panel and relocating the weatherstrip is probably the easiest solution at this point.

Well after several weekends of burying my downspout drains I finally started on the garage again. I mounted most of the outlet boxes and junction boxes, and 4/10 lights.

Does the threaded fitting and set screw coming off the boxes count for securing the EMT or do I need to plan to add more mount clamps? It's about 4 ft total between the boxes

Today I spent 11 hours running/bending conduit and pulling wires. Should be around 75% done, I actually ended up splicing all the lights before I quit for the day but it was too dark for good pictures. Electrician finished wiring the service feed, 2 gauge conductors to a 100amp breaker. Should be plenty for my purposes.

Wall outlets wired. I learned the hard way that gfcis can't share neutrals... Had to take every junction and outlet apart and split the neutrals and make sure I connected the proper one. Fun times. The left outlets and right outlets are on different poles so you can plug multiple things in without overloading the circuit.

All that's left before inspection is 3 ceiling outlets and the outdoor security lights.

I added three outlets to the ceiling for garage door opener and possibly drop lights. Wired up some security lights, closed everything up and did a little cleaning. Time to call the inspector!

Finally moved my car in. Still doing a ton of cleaning moving tools, and organizing. Hope to make some serious progress in the next month or two.
