HiBall,
Here are some pix of mine, bought at an auction in July of this past summer.
Outside shot doesn't really show much. Handle has been "reinforced" with some kind of crude wrapping.
Two drawers and top section loaded with JUNK. No tray was found with this box.
Here is backside view of the stamped logo on the front panel.
This close-up pic shows the outside of the center of the lid, right where your rivets are located. Looking closely I see the outline of an oval-shaped decal, I think, and what appears to be the top part of a red-colored "
S", seemingly in the correct vintage font to be the first letter of "
Snap On". Maybe yours once had the same decal or stencil? Or maybe yours had a riveted tag instead?
The drawers were open on this box at the auction, to reveal the contents inside. So the public
did not see the stamped logo on the front panel.
It was hidden by the open drawers! That reason, combined with the fact that the contents of the box really were total junk, allowed me to win it with a bid of just $5.
But it looks to me like yours is in nicer shape.
Nice find!
