I recently ordered a 9 piece set of the performance plus line from newage on 2/28/16. The order went very smoothly and I got confirmation that they had shipped on 3/1/16. R&L carrier started calling wanting to set up delivery for 3/3/16 and we agreed on 3/4/16 for delivery. The entire delivery process has been horrible. After 4 failed delivery attempts, they were finally delivered on 3/12/16. I put this 100% on R&L, not NewAge.

When the truck arrived and rolled up his door, I immediately saw that the shipment was damaged. The stainless counter top was in a thin box of its own and was simply shrink wrapped to the outside of two of the large locker boxes. The counter top box had failed and the top had slid out of the bottom of the box and out of the shrink wrap and was dragging the floor of the trailer.

The two large locker boxes that were pounted to a pallet were both damaged and leaning almost falling off the pallet. There was one tool drawer cabinet in its on box and pallet that looked undamaged until it was unboxed to find that it too had issues. Out of the entire 9 piece set, I have 1 single overhead cabinet that is undamaged. Every other piece has damage.

I have taken at least 100 pictures and will be contacting newage Monday morning. Hopefully they will make this right. As long as they do, no big deal as things can happen during shipping.

Looking past the damage, I am still undecided on how I feel about the products as a whole. I had never seen the performance plus line in person. Considering the cost, I'm not overly impressed at the moment. Once they are bolted together and mounted on the wall, they should be quite sturdy. Right now, just sitting on the leveling feet, they are pretty "flimsy". Also, nearly every piece has some sort of finish issue with the powder coat. Some minor, some severe.

One thing I found to be extremely disappointing was the lockers. In the pictures, they show a large silver/grey "stripe" that goes down the front of the locker from top to bottom. One would assume it is painted or powder coated on. It is nothing more than a thin piece of metal that is attached to the front of the locker with double sided adhesive. One of the lockers, the stripe was no longer attached before it even came out of the box. The other it was falling off and had shifted down about 6 inches and was bent up at the bottom.

That's it for now. Once I hear back from NewAge I will add more.

At the moment, my initial feeling is the quality is lacking for spending over $2K for these things.

I am in the process of installing some performance plus cabinets. I had some arrived damaged due to a packing problem. It sounds like yours is a shipping problem. New age is sending replacement cabinets at this moment. As far as the sturdiness of the lockers. I have mine lagged to the wall and am not using the feet. I (220lbs) can stand in the locker with little deflection.

I will be attaching mine to the wall as well. I started to leave the feet off also but my floor is not perfectly level and the adjustable feet help get them square and level before attaching to the wall.

On one of the lockers, 1 plate on the bottom that the foot attaches to is ripped out and the base edges are all beat up.

A lot of mine are finish issues as well. in many places it looks like the powder coat has been rubbed with acid or something. the powder coat is completely gone and whats left is a bright silver material. Some spots are 6-8" diameter.

I did not. Would have been difficult to unpack and inspect had I refused shipment. I did write "damaged" on the shipping document as instructed by the paperwork from newage that was attached to the outside of one of the boxes. Also took tons of pictures, even before it came off the truck.

If this damage occurred during shipping why would you expect the manufacturer to make this right and not the shipping company?

From my experience in "commercial transportation" we would usually claim the manufacturer since they arranged the freight. The manufacturer would then go after the carrier to prove it was damaged on the shipping and not beforehand.

We take copious amounts of pictures for proof upon loading so there really is no argument.

Not sure its the same way in residential, but I would assume so.

While it is impossible to ever know 100%, the majority of the damage appears to have been done before packaging. The items that appear to be damaged from shipping also have additional damage as well.

The entire experience has been a disaster

I ordered a 12 pcs set diamond plus, some came damaged and Newage had really good customer service, they sent me new ones.Cabinets to me for my situation are the best thing I did for my garage.I think shipping company's get lazy and aggressive with the package, longer it stays with shipping chances are they will be damaged. They could be moved around couple times or other items and bump them around. My damage was clearly forklift damage, but I do think they should be packaged better.I will order more when I'm ready.good luck post pics when it's all figured out.

As a distributor of NewAge Products, I can tell you that like any retailer delivering an undamaged product is ther number one priority. All of their deliveries are guaranteed, any damage caused by the shipping company is the responsibility of the shipping company. The more times the items are handled the more opportunities for damage.

NewAge has grown quite a bit in the 6 years I've been dealing with them. They now have contracted warehouse space in at least 8 locations that I know of. With that comes newly hired minimum wage fork lift drivers and warehouse handlers. I guess the key item is not to blame the handling of the delivery on the manufacturer.

The person you should contact for damaged goods is the seller, not the manufacturer. Not only is the seller in a better position to contact the manufacturer, but why put yourself through the hassle.

^ ^^ I'll second this, I've ordered a few different items from NewAge including a 12pc cabinetry set ( which came completely undamaged) There are pictures in my build thread of it being all unpackaged and what it came off of the truck looking like. I did have one damaged item come in from them which was a 6' Workbench.. it was clearly smacked by a forklift and should never have been shipped to begin with. They had excellent customer service in my case.. one phone call and all was corrected. I had taken pictures but they didn't care to see them, they were more concerned about getting me a replacement quickly and assured it wouldn't happen again. They had a new one shipped out immediately which I received in a couple of days, and they let me keep the damaged one which I straightened out, touched up and now use it in my basement as a gun cleaning table!. I'm sorry to hear about all that damage but I know they'll uphold the good customer service!. I suppose I should also add that my 12 pc set was the ''bold'' series.. not the fancy ones. I'm really happy with my purchase.. still surprised at how much weight they can hold!. Also as someone mentioned above, my attic access is directly above my one locker cabinet, (not that its recommended) but I've had my full 200lbs on there while opening the access with absolutely zero movement, so although they may seem flimsy as you say they are most definitely very strong!.

I purchased these directly from NewAge so they would be the seller. I will be contacting them first thing in the morning concerning the damage. Are you suggesting I should contact someone else? In my opinion, 99% of the damage could have been avoided had these things been packaged better. However, there are a few items that were inside of the lockers and just look like the issues were missed when they were boxed.

As far as them being flimsy, that was probably a harsh judgment on my part from being so frustrated. I staged them today and took more pictures to document the damage. I'm guessing once they are all bolted to each other and mounted on the wall, they will be quite durable. I'm going to leave them alone until I hear back from NewAge. From everything I read pre-purchase, I have no doubt this will be taken care of properly.

They pack upper cabinets in the lockers to save space. Hopefully your not in a time crunch. I had a customer who took a week off work to do his garage and had to have a cabinet replaced. It didn't slow him down, his week wasn't wasted.

Justin will take care of you, he's the replacement cabinet guy. I had a guy call me today to ask questions about cabinets. He told me he bought them from Costco. :dunno:

It was like "Why'd ya call me?"

Everything has been resolved by NewAge. After speaking with them and sending an email with nearly 100 pictures, they will be replacing all damaged items.

That is first class customer service in my opinion. I realize things can happen in packaging and shipping all the time, how the situation is handled afterwards is what is important.

I ordered my pro wall cabinets Tuesday night from new age and R&L carriers called me Thursday and dropped the cabinets off in my garage Friday. If no one was there all I had to do is leave a note for drop off. Weird the experience was so different. ***** for sure.

I've been considering purchasing the Performance line of cabinets. Seems like every review has some issue with damaged cabinets. I even read on the Newage website that they don't consider scratches and marred cabinets to be a warranty issue. I think I'll go with Craftsman.

What gauge are they? The performance line at 24 g is going to be flimsy.

I ordered a 17 piece set of the Pro series a few years ago. They arrived in perfect condition and have held up very well over the years. I don't know about the thinner versions but the Pro series, 18 gauge welded, are great cabinets for the price.
