Sat pm my father in law and I got a little insulation up and two more wall panels. (no pics)

Sunday am I finished tying in a couple of 220V lines to the panel box, installed the fan speed controller, and the connected the last switch for the bench lights (which is what the romex hanging out of the wall between the windows is for), and got the panel box trim all back on etc.

Then I took yesterday off. Did a little yard work, then spent about 3 hours finishing up the south wall insulation.

Late last night I went back out and hung basically all of the south wall upper metal panels. I just have one partial panel to do in the corner which requires I hang one sheet on the back wall first.

PEX feed through for the outdoor pool shower. Its almost like I planned that perfect. Because I did.

And then, because there is no sleep til Brooklyn, I put up a few of the lower panels.

More wed night.

Last night we got another 6 panels on the ceiling, which puts me at about 54% done.

And I finished the small section under the panel box.

Saturday Im hoping to start / finish the front wall. At least the part between the garage doors.

Last night I finished up the last few pieces of metal on the south wall.

Installed the last light in the first row of 5.

Finished installing the lights for over the bench area.

Thursday night Ill probably get the OSB installed under the bench area and try to get the middle of the garage door wall insulated. If there is any time left, start getting the J and Z trims up.

Last night I got a late start but managed to get a bunch done.

-shoved the slab temp sensor into the PEX I ran under the floor. Used some string trimmer line to shove it in with, worked great.
-caulked and taped the tyvex etc.

-insulated

-got a bunch of sheeting up. I need to finish up nailers over the other garage door before I can go any further. Hope to finish up that and get the insulation and steel up past the other door this weekend, maybe.

Small step forward last night. Finished the last little bit of insulation under the window and put the 18' of OSB up for under the bench area.

I also cleaned up a bit and moved stuff around.

Thursday I plan on trying to finish up the garage door wall.

beautiful shop and area. we used to come up to corning every aug. around the glen race time to see my gf's family. love it in the summer. she has a nephew that lives in the Rochester area also.

Nearly finished up the front wall insulation and the steel. Ill finish the last 3 feet in the other corner when I do the adjacent wall. I just have too much **** stacked over there right now to bother.

Yes, the double box mounted high on the wall is for a possible TV some year.

Up next either more ceiling steel or insulation on the rear wall so I can finish up the rooms under the stairs.

Insulated the first section on the rear wall and put up the last of the wall steel that I currently have.

And I cleaned up a ton so we have room for the "garage" sale this weekend.

I should be back to working on the ceiling and that rear wall next week.

Spent sat and last night working on the areas under the stairs.

Finished up the lower 2/3 of the rear wall insulation and all the OSB sheeting except for under the stairs. Ill zip that up later this week probably.

Also, Im very tired of playing "move the construction supplies game".

Another late start but I got the area under the stairs sheeted and 3 more light fixtures up. I ran out of wire nuts so I was unable to power them up. Maybe tomorrow.

Finally back to working on the shop after spending a lot of time building this:

Then I played "move the building supplies" as well as moving some larger items from the garage to the new shop and doing general cleanup so that I could build my workbench. Its going to be 18' long and have 3 HF 44" bottom tool boxes built in under it (left 3 sections) ala @steevo 's design and likely a 18" HF side box on the far right hand end to use as a "desk" drawer setup. I scavenged 3 6' bench tops from work that Im going to resurface with something tbd.

This is what I have so far. The 5 legs are welded up as of last night and Im starting to work on the cross support pieces / tool box supports.

Spent a bunch of time this weekend welding up the bench frame. Its nearly done except for one lower support between the 4th and 5th legs. I picked up the small side HF box this am to mount under the right section. Which is the reason for the extra metal rails at the top. More on that to come.

I TIG welded the whole thing as my MIG wasnt getting it done. The one weld pictured below I did sitting on the floor operating the pedal with my knee. Not my best work but pretty decent considering.

Took forever to get it clamped up and level. The leveling feet wont be that tall, I was just keeping it tall for doing the welding.

Nearly done with the rolling tool box for the right section of the bench. The space is fairly wide at just shy of 7' so I thought it might be nice to be able to move the box to access it depending on what I was working on, and where I wanted to sit etc. Im sure Ill end up just parking it at one end or the other, but its something I thought would be fun to do and completely unnecessary, right up my alley.

I still need to do some final tweaks like replacing the 4 bolts for the bearings with some threaded rod, and making guides to be sure the box stays centered on the track. Otherwise just a little weld clean up and paint

Roller assembly with brake.

Used an old super long bolt I salvaged from an old table, welded a nut to the end, and a quick mod to the clamp for the actuator rod assembly (removed the pressed in pin for a 10-32 bolt).

Mounted to the top of the 18" HF box. I added supports on either side of the clamp as it wasnt very stable laterally otherwise.

Clamp lever and actuator rod fit nicely above the top drawer.

Actuator knob in unlocked position. Pushes in flush with the box to lock.

I can park the box anywhere along the whole end section.

Still have a couple little things to weld to the bench, but Im planning to paint it saturday am with my little helper.

Primed and painted (found a color pretty close to the metal) behind the bench area, slid the bench frame nearly into place, and painted the boiler (404:not found yet) / compressor room.

I also cleared out most of the north wall in preparation to insulate and started capping the wall with 1" foam like I did the south side.

The plan is to pick up some laminate today for the bench tops and with any luck get the tops laminated and installed tomorrow.

After this is done I need to redo the attached garage too. Never ends. I noticed you have your garage tiled. What did you do at the edge near the driveway? Im nearly certain Im going to tile the attached garage floor when I redo it and I think thats the one thing I havent worked out.

Schlutter sells the Stainless Steel tile edge. There is one with a ramp, and there is a regular edge. I went with the regular edge, because I put a rubber threshold against it for my door to seal against. My garage is n the basement, like really below the street. Heavy rain, I have about 1' of water against the door. The little amount of water that makes it past the side seals, can't get over that threshold, so it keeps my place nice and dry.

Saturday I finished up the roller assy for the box. Welded in the bolts to hang the box from, cleaned up the welds, painted it and riveted on some 1/8" abs strips to serve as guides and got it mounted.

Then I ripped two of the bench tops down to 32" depth. Ran out of time to get the last section ready. Hopefully get back to that tomorrow night and get the tops laminated.

Thursday night I cranked out a bunch of insulation. I was off friday and did more insulation, finished capping the rest of the north wall with the 1" rigid foam and installed most of the insulation baffles. Pretty good progress for 8 hours of work.

Saturday I FINALLY had time to laminate the bench top and install the edge T molding.

Nearly finished product. The other end is getting a steel or stainless top that I still dont have yet. But at least I have a nice work surface.

Yesterday I spent a bunch of time cleaning up and organizing between closing the pool and doing other yard / house nonsense.

A buddy came over last night and we got the plastic vapor barrier up on the other half of the ceiling, and managed to get 5 more metal sheets up. Only 19 to go, hah. Hoping we can get the rest up by the end of next week.

Finished up the insulation today (not taped in the pic but its all done now). SOOO glad to be done with insulation (until I get back to the upstairs).

I also got all the seams on the ceiling plastic and insulation taped up so we can continue with the steel.

Yesterday I picked up the first 44" HF box. I slid it in this afternoon, perfect fit.

Not a super exciting update but we got another 10 sheets of steel on the ceiling last night (9 to go). Ill probably put up the next few light fixtures friday.

Finished up some more shelves in the storage area. Im planning on one more set of 4x8 shelves in the middle of the room. Maybe next week.

Friday I finished up the conduit for the network and other cables and also pulled the water line into the house.

Also more or less finished emptying out the attached garage, got some sheet rock up behind my old bench area (was plywood). Yay, now I have TWO garages to finish.

And finally, :drumroll: last night we finished the ceiling metal. Feels so good to finally have it all up and more importantly not taking up a couple hundred sqft of floor space.

Friday night I put up 4 more light fixtures. Ive since installed the bulbs. Just need one more fixture which Ill grab this week.

Saturday my daughter and I built a riser for the garage cabinets and got them screwed together and into place. I need to get the lowers painted but It will probably wait until spring. Just too much other stuff to do right now. I will likely pick up the new counter top for it soon so we can at least use the space. I really need to get a house tool box put together now that Ive moved to the barn. The garage is the emptiest its been since we built 11 years ago. I actually parked a car that didnt require work in there last night for the first time ever.

Yesterday my father in law and I scraped some sod and spread some stones out behind the barn to make room for my new 30' long stainless steel "shed".

The trailer is an old refrigeration trailer. The whole outside is 100% stainless except for the frame of course. It has an aluminum floor inside. I need to rebuild or replace the side and rear doors and make a ramp for the back but otherwise it was a super awesome deal and is a HUGE improvement over my current 10x14 rusty tin shed.
