I have been saving for years, finally got it going. I plan on having a small kitchen area, that back section is a bathroom. The plumbing is just stubbed for now. I mean they did the plumbing in the foundation and stubbed it through, it is not tied in to septic system yet. If you are interested in this thread, it will be a slow process. But I will be updating pictures. I still am saving for driveway, so it will be a slow process. I am really happy with the way it has turned out so far. I still have to get electrical power and lighting. Tell me what you think.

Very nice shop. I wonder how you will discourage birds from nesting in the canopy section. Don't get me wrong, birds are okay, it's what they drop that can spoil a great car wash.

Nice shop and even nicer f-body (don't see many WS6 Formulas)! I like the canopy out front, bet it works real nice for washing cars without being in the sun. My plan is to eventually come off the front of my shop with an a-frame roof canopy for more covered parking and a good spot for washing.

As far as your project being a slow process, I think if you look around that a majority of the garages on the forum are a never-ending project. I know mine has been.... it seems like all I have done lately is work on it :) . I guess I'm to the point that I really want to see it complete. Good luck!

I don't see a man door in the building. Would be somewhat of a hassle to have to open a roll up door each time you wanted in for just a second to get a tool for in the house, etc.

It looks like there is one on the side nearest the house. I see a concrete pad off the side of the shop. Also in the picture where you see the foldup chairs, it looks like part of the door trim at the edge of the photo at left.

That's a cool idea having a canopy in front of the shop. Good spot to wash and wax the WS6.

The rediron posts supporting the canopy will rust quickly out in the weather. The red primer affords little protection to them. Get some paint, rustoleoum or similar in whatever color you want them in, and paint these posts and the exposed faces of the C channel that make up the roll up door openings, before they rust. Much easier than waiting till after the rust begins, like I did.

What type of insulation did you use? I have a pole building and I am trying to decide what type to go with? Thanks.

1.Yes, it does have a side entry door, was not shown in pictures.
2. I plan on a 3 foot brickledge in front, and around poles. Then will be hardy planking the poles the rest of the way up.
3. I do not know what brand insulation they used, sorry.

The overhang is a nice idea along with the roll up doors. Is the addition on the back for a compressor? A friend of mine built a 30 x 40 red iron addition onto his house and wished he had a overhang on the front to wash the mud off the truck and tractor and to park them out of the weather when the garage was full or he just didn't feel like puting them inside. Very nice job. As far as the birds building nests I think I would look into puting the same metal the rest of the garage was made with to put on the inside for a nice finished look. Might even insulate it some in case you decide to enclose it at a later date.

Your shop looks great and I really like the covered area out front. The birds are most likely wrens and will churp constantly. They are very territorial and will come back every spring to build another nest. I had them for a few years in my carport and finally had to discourage them from coming back.

I'm not far from you and used to fish the Trintity river quite a bit, espically when the white bass were spawing. Your in a great area up there.

Just curious, but who did your foundation work...? I'm in the process of getting bids for my workshop foundation and am in need of a few more bids. If you don't mind I would like to give them a call for a bid.

Thanks ... Boyd

Thanks for the PM WS, I appreciate the info.

How are you planning on finishing the interior out or have you made the decision yet...?

Someone ask about insulation and just wanted to pass on some info that was suggested to me by an erector ... a company by the name of PBI. They have a website and here's the link: http://www.pbisupply.com/Product/Default.asp?id=1

I have not contacted them to see what their cost are, but plan to.

Any architects here? I was wanting to build a 8 x 30 section in the back (inside) with small kitchen area and a small office on the right. A bar would be cool but I know it will be very limited on space. At least a sink, oven, and countertops. Any help appreciated. Probably the little entryway to the bathroom will be wasted space. My idea was to box it in about 8 feet high and use the space on top for storage. I don't know alot about building so tell me if I am heading in the wrong direction.
