Wow!! Sweet garages!!

I am still amazed at how shiny the floors are in your first garage!

Nice Caddys too!

Thanks - yes its very shiny. The gloss is gone a little now though - it could need some freshening up next spring. The company that did the floor says it will look like new afterwards again. They used a special gloss sealant and protectant as top coat when they did the floor.

my friend Mike came up with this idea!

This one is absolutely ....it has something "yachtclub" in it.

Awesome man!

I noticed on your web site that you could not find suitable carpet for the Seville. Try this place:

http://www.autointeriors.biz/

If they don't have the patterns for your car, you can send them the carpets for your car and they can make a pattern from that. If the carpet you want exists, they can find it for you. I've used their carpets on a few restorations, and they do a great job. Some, I've gotten original, others I've "upgraded". For example, on one car, instead of a loop pile wool, I used a cut pile plush wool for a more modern look in an early BMW. (This was not really a resoration; the car was heavily modified). Obviously on your Caddy, one would want nothing but original; I'm sure they can find you the right carpet.

Oh yes - the AC on these cars is really something special. It took me quite a while to figure it out, but once I got it its not that difficult to fix.
Wow you are putting a 500 in? Great!
Let me know how I can help you!

Its been a loooong time since I updated this thread.
Since my last post I had a lot of issues with my garage.
Some of them are solved and some still need to get fixed.
The construction company is very cooperative at least...

_MG_0301.jpg

in January we started to smooth the walls for paint...

_MG_3804.jpg

we then started to plant a thuja hedge

IMG_2876.jpg

In April I wanted to seal the floor - this is when the first big issue surfaced...
The floor guys started to sand the screed to prepare it for sealing. Soon they found out that something was wrong. It was way too soft for epoxy coating...
A longer fight between the construction company and the company which poured the floor started to find out what went wrong and who's fault it was. After a couple of months they agreed to take the floor out again at their cost.
IMG_2909.jpg

The adhesion of the floor was tested - it was way too soft

_MG_4383_HDR.jpg

In the mean time work was going on on the outside.

Floorout-BG-_MG_4411.jpg

thats me with a digger - ready to rip the floor out again

Floorout-BG-_MG_5089.jpg

not a pretty sight...

the new floor is coming in - July 2013

the new floor finished
painting-IMG_0387.jpg

after 8 more weeks it was ready for sealing. A grey epoxy floor will follow once I have saved enough money :-(
painting-IMG_3492.jpg

finally everything was ready for paint. After I painted the walls white, I started to mask everything. Did all the paint work by myself in 5 non stop days...
painting-IMG_3512.jpg

carefully pulling off the masking tape - it came out very nicely!

after painting...

I´m using a big dehumidifier to constantly keep humidity at 50%

looking good

I still have to finish the exterior of my garage first thing this spring after some minor cracks were fixed by the construction company...

This is the color scheme I will paint it - already have bought the paint - its now waiting for the spring of 2014.

Wow, what great progress. Too bad for the floor setback and the fact that you have a very short summer season for outside work. It's gotta feel good to get all the boys back together in on place. I'm jealous!

nice job and nice collection... i am a huge fan of hogs; i have an 07 DTS with 6-passenger seating and i love it... but the styling on the old school ones was just on another level entirely. it would be a lot of fun someday to get an older cadi and restore it as nicely as you have done with all of yours. for now i mostly wrench on my stable of puch mopeds, a very fine austrian export indeed! ;)

This thread is chalk full of wonderfulness. It's unfortunate that you have had to correct the mistakes you've encountered, but it looks like the finish line is close at hand. The place looks magnificent and I look forward to seeing in once it is fully complete (which the never really are!). Congrats.

Anybody else notice his outdoor lighting over the garage doors Mimics the Cadillac "V" logo?

Ken here from BuildThreads, Inc.

Congrats and nice work www.eldorado-seville.com - this build thread was chosen as a Best Build Thread pick for this week.
hat_tip.gif

What this means is that a bunch of guys who like to build stuff (cars, trucks, 4x4s, bikes, cabins, boats, planes, and garages) and have read a ton of build threads, thought that this build thread makes a valuable contribution to online DIY culture.

So, without further ado:

Congrats again and cheers!

Great looking garage.
I wonder what cars are in it today?

Here are some more up to date pictures. As I have another garage to store part of my collection, it always looks differently in the garage...
As you can see on the exterior pictures I still have not finished the exterior of the garage as my cars are keeping me busy...

You are right - my plan was to sell 3 cars, but I only sold one, as I just could not let them go. They were too nice to sell them....I'm already regretting that I sold one :-((( unfortunately I needed some money and so I had to let it go :-(

I visit your web site all the time looking for updates...I really enjoy your posting about the repairs and restoration of items. You are to be commended for taking very nice drivers and correctly returning the areas and/or items back to OEM "as-delivered" condition WITHOUT "restoring" the car. They are only original once. The fact that you are doing this far from the US amazes me. Your efforts do not go unnoticed or appreciated. My first Cadillac was a 1977 white on white CDV that I special ordered (I was 25 years old at the time). It had 27 options...I still have all of the paperwork. Wish I had the car! Please keep posting....
