Yay, I made it to the (temporary) end of the thread! With the pool & the outdoor kitchen, your place is really looking nice!

I have been toying with the idea to move to your area, but the lack of water issue may steer me elsewhere. The mild winters you have (meaning no stinkin' snow) is very appealing, but the water thing isn't so much. Haha!

Great parts washer setup. Just need a rolling gantry setup to get the big dirty parts from the hot bubbly dip to the cool rinse area

Thanks for all the comments guys. Christmas went by pretty fast and where did New Years go? I was working shifts (flying) most of the holiday but was able to spend quality time with the family. Me and the boys started to tear into the 47 Ford. Its pretty mush ready to go out to media blasting. Here's to a great year to all my GJ buddies.

No Chevy motor in this. Sticking with the Flathead. I think I just found a guy that's local that has flathead experience. I plan to keep it pretty stock, you can only get so much speed out of this truck anyways. But am looking at some aluminum heads and dual carb set up. Just enough to make it have some bling bling in the front.

Attached is an example of what I am looking for in the engine. Also a picture of my youngest trying out his Christmas present filling in some weld on the frame.

A flathead would be perfect in that truck. It's gonna look great once you're done with it...all painted red with your logos on it's doors.

Your 47 is a great project to start on at the first of this year.
I agree with the flathead idea I did the same thing to my Zephyr and I get a lot of attention with it

Ive got a paint booth. Well at least for a couple of months. My 47' frame was blasted today and they will re-blast tomorrow morning. Ill have it by noon and hope to have primer by dinner.

Nice! I work at an OEM level paint shop. I think you'll get pretty decent results out of that setup.

Thanks, maybe not to OEM standards but it worked pretty well. Do not see any dust or dog/cat hair on the paint. When I painted a couple items with a rattle can in the garage it always has dust and hair on it. Pretty happy with the rear flow of paint and fumes. It is duct-ed to exit the rear man door. I am pretty pleased with the new HVLP gun. We will see what the Gloss black looks like, that will have to wait until Saturday

Nice paint booth set up there!!!! Will you be able to dismantle and save the materials for the next project? I know what you mean about dust, hair and BUGS in the paint. I have actually painted outside some, where the main culprit is bugs. What HVLP system are you using?

Just checking in Nighttrain. Haven't been on in a while as I've been busy trying to get mine 40x60 renovation does but continue to love your thread.

If anyone has the time to enlighten how to post the link to your own thread like Mr. Buick did in the previous post I'd love to know. I searched the FAQ section for the last hour but, just can't figure it out. (And I know it can't be that hard.)

iceman, I still am waiting to get the bike up there, I have my windmill completed and think I will be renting a fork lift/handler to raise it, this will give me the lift I need to get the bike up there safely.

Buick, I bought the Devilbiss Finishline FLG4. I am very happy with it so far. Also bought the Hobbyair forced air respirator Kinda costly but I just can't risk en hailing those fumes. Also I will be using it to clean out the tanks on our water trucks. As far as the paint booth once the frame is completed and out of there I will be reducing it down to 10' for spraying smaller parts. Once done most of the 2x4's will be used for framing for my new pump house for the pool equipment.

Paladin -Thanks for checking in, I really like your woodworking magazine storage. Your shop is looking great. I forgot how to put mu build on my signature line. Im real sure its on your signature line page.

One of my buddies stopped by yesterday in his helicopter and took me and my daughter for a photo op of our property, kinda cool to see it from above. Been busy this year trying to get it all finished up. In stalled the windmill and finished the patio with fire pit and wall between the shop and the house.

Howdy Nighttrain,

You continue to be an outstanding craftsman. (Hear that shameless sucking up sound? You know something's coming when you hear it, right?)

As I recall you have the roll up overhead doors which you so expertly boxed in. I have the rail version and I'm searching for ideas, (materials, designs etc.) on what to do with the rectangular sections of wall directly above the doors. The tongue and groove would probably work on the larger section but two of my doors have fairly short sections just above the door that would be hard to get more than one board in.

Bronson. I'll call AK this week. I want to see if he still has the Royal Cola cooler and the old hay bale shredder also have an idea for using about 400 hubcaps to line the underside of the lean too patio.

Little update on my 47 Ford water truck build, got it back on its own feet today. Lots more to do. THe flathead v-8 is still out at the rebuild shop. Body is hoping to get paint this fall.

As a 12 year active duty Navy sailor, (E-6, up for E-7) this motivates me to get switched over to officer, make some good money the next 10-12 years, and start another business as well.

Congrats on the amazing garage and the business venture, which sounds like has gone amazing.

So did the paint turn out clean without debris? What kind of paint/gun are you using? Were there any runs?

99mpower. Thanks for asking. Another year has gone by and my business has consumed my life which is ok. At least my business involved me spending time in the shop as for the garage not too much on the inside but we have finished up some outside details. We had the patio which joins the garage to the pool/house completed with a wall between the driveway. Also went up to Notth Texas and picked up some yard art. Had a quick visit with GJer Bronson. The big news is we just added a third truck this last week. Ran up to Oklahoma City and brought back a 388 Peterbilt , Your time in the Navy will go quick. Go as high as you can.

DD t/a. Sorry not seeing your post. Paint turned out great. I should have put lights in the booth. I was thinking the light coming through the plastic was enough but it's not. As for the gun I'll look tonight. I bought it from Eastwood. My New Years goal is to spend a little more time on GJ and get my page updated.
