drove thru your hood on 12 and 290 to henly sunday. went out there to pick up a friends diesel p/u that had been worked on. looked for your place and didn't see it.:dunno: lol. if you aren't from around here, i guess you wouldn't realize how many people use rain water and hauled water. just down the street from me, right on lake travis, lcra is hauling 5 60k loads a day for a small subdivision who lost their well.. you should do very well with your business.
if you are flying the blue and yellow copter out of austin, then i seen you many times. in fact it has landed in my neighborhood. good luck with both jobs.

Thanks Madoc1. I actually bid on that water job. My business has taken over all my free time. It is mind blowing how it has erupted. I do fly those helicopters. It may have been me landing out there. We do go out your way a lot. I flew a lot during the fires out there two years ago. If your ever back this way give me a shout. Thanks for looking at my thread. I have two drivers working for me do I am hoping to get back to finishing the garage and putting in a pool this year.

That was me. I was thinking of your post being in Spicewood and bei g out there. I need to add pictures of the truck to this thread. I had to add a drop axle. Business is crazy. I post more this weekend.

You have a great shop complex out there. Love the truck and graphics, too! So the water is the side business and helo work is the day job? Sounds killer. Must show us the flying tools, too!

Love the garage. I just moved from Oak Hill out to 6 acres in the country near Bastrop, and finally have the room and the funds to build the shop I've always wanted. It will be very similar to yours (60 x 40 x 16), with a lean-to/awning on the side for my toyhauler and tractor.

I haven't quite decided on which way to go for the framing, though - red iron kit from Mueller, slip together tubing from Versatube, pole barn, or what. With the drought and the recent wildfires here in the Bastrop area, I'm really leaning towards all metal construction, though. Is any one type of framing going to be significantly less expensive than the others?

The advantage of Versatube is that I could (conceivably) erect it myself, with a little help, and use the savings on running electrical to the shop or a 2 post lift, or tools, etc.

Any recommendations as far as concrete. electrical, or erection contractors in the area?

Those light gauge flimsy frames like versatube are like a carport, I wouldn't use that stuff unless its the only way you can manage. I like heavy iron.

Is it next week yet? I think that post was from September! I haven't been keeping up lately and have spent the last few weeks checking in on some of my old favorites. Hope all is well with the water business. Does it slow down much in the winter season?

Give us an update as time allows.....

Wow, amazing build! Nicely done.

I'm based in Cedar Creek, near Bastrop. We moved here from Florida in September and loving the country and the big shop. (Although mine is a 1/3 the size of yours.). Thanks for writing up the build, it's been entertaining. Cheers

Way overdue on my post. My camera broke and I can not load pictures with my phone. I have added a "parts washer" to the garage which I think you guys will enjoy. Ok off my **** and will get a new camera to add to the post. For those that are following my business has over taken my spare time. Over the last year and a half I have been working 60-70 hour weeks. Recently I hired a full time driver and just ordered another truck. It should be here middle of next month. With the new driver I'm back to just my normal job and getting back to the garage.

Great build NT…enjoyed the thread! Big thumbs up on the planning and the skills.

From the inferences I'm pretty sure I work for…lets say…a large metropolitan system which you support with the whirly-bird…same colors. Recognized once you started with the water delivery…one of your associates wife had mentioned it to me long ago when I started a house build.

After you checked in on my build thread, thought I would return the favor. I remember this thread now, a build within a build...AWESOME!!! Bringing this shot back up to show anyone who hasn't seen this what they need to go back and check out.
Hope the new business is continuing to go well.

Ryan, Outstanding picture! and thank you i'll speak with the boss and make sure we get you a GJ discount on the next deliveries. We deliver to several from GJ and give them a discount also. I really need to update my build pictures. I have a done a lot and tired to up load but my photo bucket account had expired. The last year and a half have really been busy. I spend a lot of time here on GJ and seeing the truck in front of the Atomic shop made my day! Here is a quick shot of my bathroom sink I just finished this weekend.

Nighttraine,

Had to come over here and check out your build and I too am greatly impressed with the vision that you had for your shop it all turned out really great. I am a ways behind your build and you can relate it all takes time and money to get to the finished. product.

You sir did a great job on it all!

Boy I need to update my build thread. I've done an awful job keeping up with it. Thanks mayhemtex for bringing the thread up. I am unable to upload pictures at home due to poor internet connection but let me throw some iPhone pictures up. We added a parts washer between the house and shop

And we have grown the business a little bit. This last year and a half has been crazy busy both in my full time job flying and our business. Made two trips up to Amarillo for the two old ford trucks. Meet up with Bronson on both occasions. We have a lot to go yet but am real blessed with what we have. I really enjoy looking at GJ and chatting with like minded folks. Hears to another productive year.
